I am sure some of you do remember. Well Governor Dean was just on CNN a few minutes ago and I will paraphrase here because the transcript is not up yet. But he said that his words were taken out of context by the print media and then the White House gave an incorrect question to print media to ask the Kerry campaign to give an answer to. Now why would they do that do you think? My suggestion would be for some people here to get a grip and wait to see what the people involved say before going off like this and making yourself feel embarrassed based on what the media reports. It is unbecoming.

Don

I will post the transcript when it is up at the CNN transcripts page.

1. Thank you for your post.
Very informative.
So, the bush* administration is giving the media questions to ask the Kerry campaign? American journalism has sunk to an all time low.

5. You did...
...and he also was allowed to explain the purpose of his new organization. The interview was short but went extremely well.

6. He said the same thing on Hannity and Colmes last night.
Live and learn. The media hardly ever quoted Dean correctly, so when the media starts misquoting Kerry also, that shouldn't be a surprise. What is an unpleasant surprise is, that the media allowed itself to be used by the Bushies to try to drive a wedge in the Democratic party. Representing a Bushie press release, as Dean's actual position to Kerry, is downright slimy. One more Stupid Media Trick.

4. .
Yeah, they try stir up fights and resentment among Democrats and we don't know better than to make their plans turn out successful.

We have to expect that there are "some" who distort statements of Dems and the Right will use these distorted statements to attack because the truth doesn't offer them this ammunition.

7. As long as we are willing to attack each other
their plans will work just fine.

It's OUR job to DECIDE to treat each other well, and not get into attack mode.

I realize that's useless to keep trying to get that across, but there it is.

Attacking each other is just one more way they win.

8. Divide and Conquer...
is the republican strategy and judging by some of this BS on these threads, it's easy picking for them.

The AP article from that thread was written by republican hack, Nedra Pickler. She is as unbiased as Ann Coulter.

9. I can't call any individual poster on DU an idiot
but I think the new rules allow me to make the blanket statement that those who panic at every latest Bushism in every news cycle, those who allow Bush and his corporate media backers to push their buttons over and over, who act as the point of every wedge, never learning from the last experience, are idiots.

12. Here is the transcript
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0403/19/ltm.05.html

<snip>DEAN: No, I said no such thing, and some enterprising print reporter -- actually, in fairness to the print reporters, they were spoon-fed by the White House, who claimed I said that. Of course, I said nothing of the sort.

You know, politics is a tough game. But I do think the print reporters have got to be a little more careful before they make up stories that aren't so.

O'BRIEN: At the same time...

DEAN: And then they went over and told John Kerry what the White House had said I said... O'BRIEN: My next question for you.

DEAN: ... which wasn't true, so they had Senator Kerry trapped into responding to something that the White House said, not that I said. This is a ridiculous flap caused by too much time on the hands of print reporters.

O'BRIEN: Yes, in fact, he said something like that's not our position.

DEAN: Sure.

O'BRIEN: And you say that comment was actually a response to...

DEAN: To the White House.

O'BRIEN: ... something that was not happening at all.

DEAN: It was a response to the White House. That's a ridiculous non-story.
