When do candidates announce their cabinet?
After they are elected?
Before they are elected but after they announce their VP candidate?
Or at the same time as VP?

Thanks.

1. I can't recall
a single instance of any National candidate naming the members of his cabinet prior to actually winning the election. Can anyone "refresh" my memory?

2. Just about any time they feel like it.
Since the cabinet has to be confirmed, nothing is official until well after the election, but it's a useful tool to hint at who you might select if elected.

If the names are of sufficient stature, NOW is not too early to announce, but closer to the conventions would be ideal. If you don't have a stable of "big names" then you wait awhile.

3. After they are elected
& continues until they're complete. Sometimes they take office, without all the cabinet in place.

Some Candidates mention who they would appoint, but they do official announcements after they are elected.

4. After the election, definitely
It would be presumptuous arrogance to do so earlier and rub people the wrong way, no matter which side did it.
