Anyone think that Bush might try to "Wellstone" Kerry before the election?
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 09:37 PM by truhavoc
The circumstances leading up to Paul Wellstones death strangely point to the administration. What would happen if Kerry's plane "mysteriously" crashes? Is there any recourse? Or would it be a Bush v. Nader ticket?

I refuse to underestimate what these criminals would do to remain in power.

YES, Bush and his crime family are capable of doing ANYTHING
to stay in power. Kerry had better watch EVERY MOVE he makes and COMPLETELY trust the people who are there to protect him.
ELECT KERRY 2004!!!!

3. Rather Than Engage In Making Such A Negative Suggestion
Perhaps DU could think and consider more POSTIVE THEMES.

5. Not trying to be negative
I just wanted to know if anyone knew of a contingency plan, I don't believe this is a situation that has ever been faced (heaven forbid).

9. This thread is beneath us.
that being said, I hope Kerry's got the best security in existence.
Now let's talk about something else or we'll all wind up in Kausfiles and Lucianne tomorrow.

10. Please don't use Paul Wellstone's name to label such an act.
I revere the memory of Paul Wellstone for who he was, all that he accomplished and for his inspiration of thousands of people.

Please don't cheapen his memory and integrity by using his name in that way.

Thank you.

it has been on my mind, and I was wondering who the Dem nominee would be then?

Not being facetious here, just wondering how your system works. Anyone care to explain?

12. That would be a bad idea.
I think there is a prevision that our ticket could still win and would have a better chance with the sympathy and conspiracy factors.

13. He's running out of time to put a tree in front of Kerry's snowboarding
path....

Frankly, I think they would do just about anything to win...these are evil people....

And, still, we have Democrats who want to play nice with them.....

Sort of an RFK thang with JK getting shot by some Vietnam vet numbnut... I'm sure that's why JK has Secret Service cover now.

It was odd. I was in Madison for the Kerry speech when he won the primary and was giving his speech. I was about 20 feet from the podium and was videotaping the speech, holding up the camera above my head. He kept sort of looking over at me while he was speaking and looked at the camera. It easily could be a weapon, I thought, as he seemed a little uneasy for a second or so. He would continue looking at the camera and my face to read an expression. I would smile, sensing that he was feeling distracted or uneasy.

Later, when the speech was over and John was signing autographs and shaking hands with the crowd, some photographer jumped the fence and invaded the space that John and his assistants had formed. He was immediately grabbed and pulled away with some of the Kerry staffers demanding his business card so they could report him to his employer. It happened really fast, but it has sort of haunted me how some nutjob could get at a candidate if they really wanted to.

I haven't seen the new security with the Secret Service that Kerry has now, but the Madison event might have been the last straw. Who knows.

15. Assassinations in the 60's and 70's
led to the extension of Secret Service protection to the candidates, if I recall correctly.
Why is it only this year that I realize that the initials of the Secret Service are SS?

18. Here's some film from Love Field on 22 November 1963...
... this shows a Secret Service agent ORDERED to stand down from JFK's limousine. You might have to scroll down a bit to see the tiny viewer. The film was featured recently on the latest installment of "The Men Who Killed Kennedy." It's pretty darn obvious...

23. I had the same fear for Wes Clark before he dropped out of
the race.

Of course Kerry will just about guarantee his own safety by making Wes his VP (unless BushCo can figure out a way to take 'em both out at the same time) but then I'll just have to start worrying about Wes all over again, VP Secret Service protection notwithstanding.

For that matter, I'm not sure how much I trust them either...
