We need Dean
Kerry's losing some steam. Dean should come out and slam Bush with something, maybe take the heat off of Kerry, stir up the pot a little.

Something financial. Something about the deficit and the irresponsibility of it. Whatever it is, it's gotta be nasty as hell.

1. Mmmmmmm...
I'm peering into the future...and I see Dean doing that, but because it is not part of Kerry's game plan, and because Dean might have gone over the top, the Kerry campaign will quietly distance themselves from Dean's comments, and then I see 264 hours of "AAAAAARGH KERRY SUCKS AAAARRRGGGHH!!!!" here on DU until I finally claw my eyeballs out and have done with it.

We do need Dean. But I have peered into the future, and it'll be ugly here.

2. How about the 200+ B's he spent
on a BS war and the Medicare fraud? That's almost 400 B's, right there- half of 900.

I'm sure we could think of other stuff, too.

We need to slam that bastard. He's wasting our kid's money.

3. Good
DIscourse is the cornerstone of intellectual, political, and personal growth. Kerry will LOSE if he doesn't let SOMEBODY attack Bush. He's certainly not getting the message out.

Kerry's relaxed, non-confrontational manner won't do squat to bring bush down. We need ALL prominent anti-bush folks to be on the attack 24/7. Dean, Carville, Franken, Carlin, etc.

Kerry's response can simply be "I don't agree with ALL the coments made, but there are some valid points, and his/her right to express them is guaranteed"

5. Not just Dean
I agree with the concept. But it will take Dean, Edwards, Clinton, Gephardt, Clark, Al Franken, any and all of them, each doing his part to remove Bush.

9. I'll second that one!
I'd prefer a nominee who actually fights these bastards instead of voting for their fascism.

15. Kerry campaign wants him to vet his comments first....
I get the impression they do. Even though he is not a surrogate. They need to let Dean be himself, speak for himself, and quit worrying themselves to death. He has been proven right on everything he said.

But if one points that out, someone jumps on and says he did not say it correctly. Well, by golly, there is just one way to tell the truth sometimes. Throw it out there and let it build steam.

We are going to kill ourselves being politically correct.

16. let Dean take the lead
They should beg Dean to get out there and be his normal, truth-speaking self, he's not afraid of the heat. Then the rest of them can all go "yeah, what HE said".

What makes me cringe is when Dean speaks the truth and others wimp out with "well, that's not our position" to appease the loudmouths on the other side.

Do the Repubs ever do that to Cheney? Or Rumsfeld?

I trust Dean's intuition and razor-sharp summations hands-down over careful word parsing.

17. Bush* is the one who is losing steam
Bush* just spent $10 million on ads only to see his approval #'s stay the same while his approval for his fighting terrorism has gone DOWN!

23. I wish I shared your optimism sangh0
It's actually quite inspiring & we need cheerleaders some of the time.
But not all of the time.
I just don't feel it's as simple as you're presenting it here. I do wish it was, but I am worried that Bush still has plenty of steam left. These short term swings in opinion don't reassure me.

19. This thread reminds me of a song.
G.W. never hangs around
When he hears this mighty sound...
"Here I come to save the day!"
That means that Howard Dean is on the way.
Yessir when there is a wrong to right
Howard Dean will join the fight
On the sea or on the land
He gets the situation well in hand
So though we are in danger
We never despair
Cause we know that where there's danger
He is there!
He is there!
On the land!
On the sea!
In the air!
We're not worryin' at all
We're just listenin' for his call
"Here I come to save the day!"
That means that Howard Dean is on the way!

:-)
