Kerry + Clark = my friend "Joe's" vote (another Repub for Kerry!)

I have a good friend (called "Joe") that I meant some years back while working in IT at a defense sub-contractor firm. "Joe" is a solid Repub, ex-military (officer), and very willing to discuss/debate other points of view. We had looong conversations when I was working on the Clark campaign, and I (almost!) got him to a meet-up.

Since then, we've spoken sporadically, and I was curious that, if left to his own device, what his decisions would be come November. I e-mailed him yesterday, and put in this line: "Clark for VP! Bush for Crawford!". I received the following lines as part of his response:

RE Wes Clark for VP! Bush for Crawford! I like it! I've pretty much
decided not to vote for Bush but may not vote for anybody or may warm to
Kerry. A good and more moderate VP choice might nudge me his way.

Here is a CLASSIC example of the folks that us Clarkies have been PROMISING would come our way if Wes was part of the ticket. Kerry's military record has made "Joe" consider him, and a man of strong convictions like Clark (who can be perceived as a moderate) will put another vote in Kerry's column.

If there is anyone out there who does not think we need thousands of "Joes" to win this election, think again.

One vote at a time, folks, one vote at a time.

2. capturing the vital "joe vote" is a must for kerry
a wes clark VP choice would also net the Mike and Bob votes here in my home state. I must tell this to Kerry. :)

5. He already knows - he's a "John"

If he was a "Jeremy" or a "Evan" or (heaven forbid) a "Taylor" he'd never figure it out. :)

3. But do we need a new thread for every one? I could start a dozen Edwards
threads. MY Republican friends who will vote for Kerry if he chooses Edwards. Geez.

10. I completely disagree!
I haven't found any Republicans who would vote for Kerry if Edwards was on the ticket. NONE! I do have several who really like Clark. I am real curious if you really have Republican friends who like Edwards that much? It's clear that Republicans, especially with the war in Iraq going sour seem to be attracted to Clark.

4. My sister said the same thing
She's always been a Republican and voted Bush in 2000. Says now she would vote for Kerry with Clark. I'm still working on her to say she will vote Kerry no matter what, but she's generally tougher than I am when she makes up her mind to something. She thinks Kerry's too liberal. Where she got the idea Clark is not liberal is beyond me, but she just sees him as moderate. I did manage to rope in my other Republican sister, though. She has promised to vote Kerry in November.

7. There are so many military people out there
who are fed up.

Add their families, & you have a ton of potential voters for Kerry if he chooses Clark.

To them, Kerry is a Mass. liberal, but Clark brings a new perception to the ticket.

9. I have two Republican friends who would vote for Kerry if Clark was VP
I know a lot of Democrats love Edwards but that doesn't mean a lot of Republicans do. The Right is attacking Kerry mostly on Defense so Clark would shore up Kerry there. As we seem to be finding out Clark is more appealing to Republicans who are swing voters. I think Clark is the logical choice for VP. Edwards only brings more of what Kerry already has. Clark ads support where Kerry needs it in several ways.
