Just saw the new Kerry ad and it's gonna

resonate well. His daughter is a huge asset to this ad. She comes across as sincere and moving. It's a good ad and it's nice to see a POSITIVE ad. This will go over well with the people instead of attack ads. The American people are ready for something positive in this country.

Bush ads only attack and people are gonna get sick of it real fast. That's all he's ever done, since way back to day of him running for governor. He attacked Ann Richards horribly, but that pales in comparison to what he is doing now. I heard a radio DJ say the other day that the one thing that turned him off of a candidate was running negative attack ads.

Bush's negative attack ads makes him look like a bully and nobody likes a bully--unless it's a rwing hack, neo-conservative hawk--which aren't looking to good to anyone these days!

1. It will
I have met Vanessa...spoke with her for about 10 minutes back in December when his candidacy was assumed "dead".

Vanessa is totally down to earth and sweet. Very intelligent and clearly loves her dad with all her heart.

3. I think it will serve to make the *'s ads look stupid
I can't imagine that a moderate voter would believe the *'s add about Kerry not supporting the military, most swing voters are the most informed that's why 2/3 usually goes to the challenger.

4. I saw it, too
It ran during my local evening news. BTW, isn't Vanessa the one who's taken a leave from medical school to help her dad? Good for her.

5. This is the Right Way to Do It
and the ads are coming at just the right time. To everyone who think Kerry should just criticize Bush every day -- look what happened to Howard Dean. It just builds up too many negatives.

Kerry does have to define a positive message. But the step is creating a positive messenger. Gore's campaign started slowly, but steadily improved and became very effective by election day. I look for the same things from Kerry.

6. I agree and to attack
Bush on every turn would wear Kerry out before he even gets started good! There's still too much time till Nov., and he's doing the right thing--pacing himself. Excellent strategy!:bounce:

7. Exactly
Kerry's ads should stay positive and let MoveOn and the other PACs do most of the attacking.

9. I have yet to see a Bush ad that isn't about Kerry
In the long run, that could hurt Bush. Especially if he's stupid enought to use the Vietnam record in his ads.

11. Like fresh air
Kerry's ad was like fresh air compared to Bush's pollution of the airwaves with his negative attacks. I was really glad to see the positive ads.

14. I predict it will be well received in PA given the recent years' rejection
of negative ads. The ads are very well done.

18. These ads are doing much
To undo any of the Bush juntas attempt to define Kerry.

Even if Kerry got a purple heart in Vietnam for getting a splinter in his butt from sitting in a swift boat, the sheer fact that he volunteered to be on that boat gives him far more crediblity than anyone on Bush's cabinet except for the lone voice of dissent on that cabinet who didnt want to rush to war, Colin Powell.

Any Republican who dares to question Kerry, his record, or his potesting the war should be tarred, feathered, and rode out of the country on a rail.

20. analyze the ad's message -- 'Yes, we're rich & privileged, but...
I was raised by parents who believed in serving their country, and I have practiced that my whole life.'

It is very interesting that they do not try to make the Kerry's look like 'just plain folks' -- They go in the opposite direction and show them in very expensive looking backdrops. Kerry is even seen in reading glasses that me remind me of FDR's, but it isn't typical to show the candidate wearing reading glasses let alone kind of stuffy looking ones. His wife especially looks like a wealthy woman. His daughter is in a "richly" lit way as well. Kerry never appears without a tie.

I think this gives the ad more credibility than if he had tried to be something he's not. It also may be intended to inoculate him against Bush charges that he is rich, privileged and aloof. Yeah, so what.

It also makes it more likely that Kerry will pick someone from a working class background as VP. Of course, I'm not sure that knocks anybody off the list -- Gephardt, Edwards, Vilsak, Clark all play up their working class roots. I'd guess that Richardson wasn't rich and his Latino background would play just as well.

21. Richardson has emphatically said
"NO" to VP slot. He likes being governor. He has said this time and time again.

As far as the "richness" of the ads, I really didn't notice, 'cause I was too busy listening to the message. Kerry looks professional--he was a lt. governor and a prosecutor so I'm sure he knows a thing or two about ties and "dressing up for the courtroom.";)
