CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - President Bush holds a slight lead over Democrat John Kerry in West Virginia, 47 percent to 43 percent, with independent Ralph Nader at 2 percent, according to a poll released Friday. Another 8 percent of voters were undecided.

...

In the poll, Bush was tied with Kerry in two regions of the state - in the Charleston/Huntington area and the Monongahela River Valley and led in two other regions - the Appalachian Highlands and the Ohio River valley. Kerry led Bush in the southwest part of the state.

...

Bush is attracting more independent voters, 42 percent, compared to 35 percent for Kerry and 9 percent for Nader.

5. no he is a factor
and one which Kerry will need to recognize. Maybe not in West Virginia--though it does say alot where his support is coming from--not liberal democrats or republicans but by and large by independent swing voters who oppose the war--9% nationally with this group.

3. No
at least not yet. He might get on it though.

He needs 12,962 signatures though, so given WV's size, it's probably one of the less likely states for him to be on the ballot.
