1. governments picking and choosing voters. backasswards.
there is NO EXCUSE for disenfranchising ANYONE.

nevermind desenfranching innocent people in the process. even when done 'correctly', it's simply a corrupt practice.

2. The important thing to remember is that they have no shame.
The wing-nuts love this sort of stuff since it might disenfranchise African Americans and they can pretend that they are just trying to enforce the rule of law. As if they really give a shit about the law.

3. Call everyone you know in Florida and have them CHECK!
Don't wait until you get there to find out you've been purged! Call your Secretary of State office and CHECK NOW! And don't let them purge you later - KEEP CHECKING. And don't get caught with not enough time to fix it - CHECK OFTEN. This is serious. Do this and pass it on to everyone you know, and have your community groups tell people to do it. Make sure everyone who is supposed to be able to vote can.

5. It was discussed a couple days ago on, I think,
Latest breaking news. Probably completely bumped from media news due to much preferred torture/sex topics.

6. The article was May 6th @ 7-something p.m.
and I went through the news postings on DU from a little before that up to when I posted this, and didn't see anything about it.
It seemed too important to take a chance.
