Kerry needs to remind people why they like Democrats
The war is going badly, but we can't capitalize on that very effectively. We can't say we were right all along and even if we could that doesn't make immediate withdrawl a good option. It may be the least bad one, but it isn't good. But the war going badly still gives us an opportunity. We can talk about our issues.

Kerry should keep his mouth shut about the war to the extent possible. Heck if I thought people would buy it I would suggest a secret plan to end the war but the country got burnt once on that one. Then he should remind America about jobs, health care, and a host of other issues that we are better on. Kerry isn't going to win on personality, nor is he going to win on the war. If he is going to win it is going to be on bread and butter issues. Clinton made every day about the economy. Kerry needs to make every day about the economy. Bush's best argument for reelection is going up in smoke. We didn't make that happen, he did. Now we need to put forth our best argument for Kerry's election.

1. He's pushing Health Care right now
Which is a good start. It's getting some coverage now, and stands out simply because it's such a contrast to all the Iraq stories. I wish he would come up with more "short slogans" about these issues. Not a one-liner, really, more of a easy to remember short list of 2 or 3 things he will do and repeat them over and over till everyone knows it by heart.

Speaking on the war is a double-edged sword. It's hard to say what you are going to do when the situation is changing constantly. Looking at the polls, most people are split and confused about what to do anyway, so I doubt he could get much traction no matter what he said. (except for the "pull out now" people).

2. that is why he should avoid the war
All the options are bad at this point. Pulling out has the advantage of keeping our hands clean of active problems but passively letting a slaughter go on is hardly better. I am glad he is hitting health care. I need to check the Erie TV stations websights to see what coverage he got in Erie yesterday. I was working then too tired to stay up for the 11 news.

3. Regarding the war
He shouldn't totally forget it. He should at least mention some of it little by little. Yet sooner or later, he is going to have to show that he recognizes what is taking place on the ground in Iraq. The best time to showcase this understanding is during the debates.

17. The thing is, everyone should KNOW that already.
It's no secret that the Bush Criminal Empire has been involved in the oil business since the 1940's. And Cheney's ties with Halliburton. They ARE the oil industry. And the fact that the highest gas prices are in BLUE states is no accident, and it has nothing to do with where the fucking refineries are.

6. My take: He has Wes working on an plan
for bringing the country together and then a viable exit strategy. They will present this as a very welcome alternative once he announces Wes as his VP.

8. Generally speaking, that's good advice
which probably explains why that is what Kerry has been doing. The last two weeks were about the economy and education, and this week is all health care. It probably also explains Kerry's rising numbers as well as partially explaining Bush*'s dropping numbers

Bush is tanking but there is no evidence that Kerry is moving up.

14. You shouldn't be so insistent
Edited on Tue May-11-04 03:55 PM by sangh0
when you're wrong. You also called me aliar, when I was telling the truth. You might disagree (even though the poll clearly shows I'm right) but that doesn't make me a liar.

In other words, if you expect me to treat you with respect, it helps if you were to do the same.

15. I only called you a liar when you were
You had claimed, falsly that I had posted negatively about Kerry every day. You out and out lied and repated the lie(which is when I called you one) after I pointed it out.

19. Then please provide the posts on the dates I requested
I am tired of you lying about my record. to the mods. This person is deliberatly telling false statements. He claims I have posted anti Kerry stuff every single day. This is the third time he has stated it and not backed it up. He knows the statement is false. If you remove this post I demand every post by him directed at me containing that false statement also be removed.

I honestly hadn't known that. He really needs to give up that Senate seat for a variety of reasons. This is just one of them.

18. And 10 Republican "yes" votes
That would have turned "no" if he'd shown up. This is pure partisan trickery, I'm surprised so many are fooled by it; or maybe just willing to use it for their own partisan politcal agenda. More help for Bush, always lovin' that!!

or Specter or Murkowski or any other Republican up for reelection? If so then it allows them to pretend to be something they are not.

All 3, and Talent, Bond, and Dole. As well as McCain, Snowe and Collins, I think. One of them would have rolled, that's for sure.

23. Hmm...that's why it feels like 2000 all over again?
Kerry's playing the same idiotic game Gore and his handlers played in 2000-- play it safe, try to look "presidential", don't propose anything "radical" (or, anything that can easily define you, for that matter).

His health care plan is a freaking joke-- too little too late. He'd just continue feeding the beast that we've created, and do NOTHING to rein it in.

His Iraq "plan" (if there is one) is more of the same thing Bush has been doing-- and we know how successful THAT has been.d

G*D DAMMIT JOHN KERRY, STAND THE FCUK UP! FIGHT THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!
Otherwise, you'll go down in history as an asterisk, just like Al Gore.
