May 13, 2004 ORLANDO - It usually starts the same way: a beaming John Kerry lopes into view, pumping a fist into the air. He peels off his blazer and tosses it to the side. Time for another "town hall meeting" with the Democratic presidential candidate, doing his best to tone down his patrician bearing and mix it up with voters.
An internal poll completed Sunday for America Coming Together, a Democratic group independently mobilizing Florida Democrats, found 48 percent of likely Florida voters backed Kerry, 46 percent supported Bush and 3 percent backed Ralph Nader. The poll was conducted by the firm Hamilton Beattie & Staff, which surveyed 1,000 voters.
Ralph Reed, the Bush-Cheney campaign's regional chairman, said in a conference call with reporters Wednesday that Kerry is wasting his time. Outgoing Florida Sen. Bob Graham is among several candidates Kerry is looking at for a running mate, but Reed said even with Graham on the ticket Kerry would lose Florida and every other Southern state.
http://www.sptimes.com/2004/03/07/State/Another_presidential_.shtmlIf the (Florida Presidential) election were held today 3/7/04, 49 percent would vote for Massachusetts Sen. Kerry, 43 percent for Bush, and 3 percent for independent candidate Ralph Nader. Only 5 percent were undecided in a state that remains starkly polarized politically.
The poll was conducted by the Washington polling firms of Schroth & Associates, whose political clients are Democrats, and the Polling Company, whose political clients are Republicans. The statewide phone survey of 800 registered Florida voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
In a head-to-head matchup, Kerry/Graham led Bush/Cheney 49 percent to 44 percent, an identical margin as with former presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards as Kerry's running mate. Nelson fared slightly worse than Graham as a vice presidential candidate, with Kerry/Nelson barely edging Bush/Cheney 46 percent to 44 percent.
April 14, 2004--In the state of Florida, the race for President is a toss-up. The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds Massachusetts Senator John F. Kerry attracting 47% of the vote in the Sunshine State and President George W. Bush earning 46%.
The survey was completed just before President Bush's nationally televised Press Conference on Iraq.
A month ago, Kerry led Bush by 3 percentage points, 48% to 45%
