Ohio ARG poll: Kerry 49 Bush 42 Nader 2
Edited on Thu May-13-04 02:49 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
John Kerry leads George W. Bush among likely voters in Ohio
according to a survey by the American Research Group. A total
of 49% of likely voters say they would vote for Kerry if the
presidential election were being held today and 42% say they
would vote for Bush. A total of 2% of likely voters say they
would vote for Ralph Nader and 7% of likely voters are
undecided.

In a race between just Kerry and Bush, Kerry is at 50%, Bush
is at 43%, and 7% are undecided.

These results are based on 600 completed telephone interviews
among a statewide random sample of likely voters in Ohio. Of
the 600 likely voters, 38% consider themselves to be
Republicans, 40% consider themselves to be Democrats, and 22%
consider themselves to be independents. The interviews were
conducted May 10 through 12, 2004. The theoretical margin of
error for the total sample of 600 is plus or minus 4
percentage points, 95% of the time, on questions where opinion
is evenly split.

Ohio likely voters May 12

George W. Bush 42%
John Kerry 49%
Ralph Nader 2%
Undecided 7%

Kerry does better among Democrats than Bush does among
Republicans and Kerry has a 5 percentage-point lead among
self-described independents.

Party Republicans(38%) Democrats(40%) Independents(22%)

George W. Bush 80% 6% 43%
John Kerry 9% 87% 48%
Ralph Nader 2% 2% 2%
Undecided 9% 5% 7%

1. Wow
If Bush is behind by 7 points in Ohio, a state he won in 2000, he's in deep shit.

2. Nice
Surprising to me that Bush can get the support of 43% of independents, and also that the number of independent undecideds is less than repubs.

But overall, great news in an important state. Bush can't win without Ohio. I really think they're starting to crack.

4. That's seems most significant to me
Also, look at the favoribility ratings, all the people who
haven't yet decided whether to like Kerry, already decided
they don't like Bush:

Awareness and favorability
         Aware Favorable Unfavorable Undecided
George W. Bush: 100% 43% 52% 5%
John Kerry: 97% 44% 36% 17%
Ralph Nader: 100% 22% 63% 15%

A total of 81% of Republicans and 6% of Democrats say they
have a favorable opinion of Bush, with 88% of Democrats saying
they have an unfavorable opinion of Bush.

A total of 67% of Democrats say they have a favorable opinion
of Kerry, and 71% of Republicans and 6% of Democrats have an
unfavorable opinion of Kerry.

A total of 76% of Republicans and 56% of Democrats have an
unfavorable opinion of Nader.

7. Bush is in trouble
if he is behind in both Ohio and Florida, but it is way too early to get too excited--I put nothing past this corrupt administration. Still it is encouraging.

9. This is great news
but I do have one slight problem. I don't think the partisan numbers are correct. I find it hard to believe Democrats still outnumber Republicans here. But if they are right on that this is fabulous news. Thanks for posting.
