2. Was he against the war?
I don't recall hearing that. I know he's pro-choice, which would probably exclude him from being on the GOP ticket.

Not that I ever liked Giuliani, but I was turned off by his shilling for Bush about the 9/11 hearings.

6. Heard it during an interview before the war started, he might have changed
to protect Bush or is just quiet about it.

4. He was for the war
He's been solidly behind Bush since the attack.

But in case you meant Bush's VP, his pro-choice, anti-gun, pro-gay positions probably exclude even him from national republicandom.

5. I stopped respecting that schmuck....
After he bad mouthed Hillary on some right wing show....He may just be a political opportunist rather than a "great leader".

8. giuliani is a whore and hosting the republican convention
he profits from 9/11 terrorist attacks and defends bush who failed to do anything to prevent the attacks and ignored those who warned him of al qaeda.

12. It's not inconceivable...
As the campaign progresses, I can see the following scenario. Let's say that things continue to worsen in Iraq for BushCo such that Kerry begins to build a sizeable lead. About a week before the Republican convention, Cheney's tricky ticker will suddenly take a turn for the worse and he has to drop out ('for health reasons', of course). That will give Republicans a perfect opportunity to anoint Giuliani as the new VP candidate at the convention.

Of course, Giuliani may not be who BushCo wants on the ticket. But if Bush finds himself in a July freefall, something is going to change on their ticket. Cheney, of course, won't be far away--he'll be working behind the scenes with PNAC, Rumsfeld and Wolfo-half-witz.

And anyone who still deludes themselves that McCain will be the surprise choice for Kerry's VP needs to get over it. There are some serious core Democratic voter base party platform fundamentals on which the two men disagree (i.e. abortion). McCain's not a bad guy--he's one of the more honorable pols out there, Republican or Democrat--but if you've got a chance to get the Senate back to 50-49-1, with the independent caucusing with the Democrats, do you really want a Republican to hold the tie-breaker? Do you want the Republicans to get the committee chairmanships? Too risky.

You can't possibly be suggesting Democrats should work to get a republican elected?

17. about Rudy...
Let me clear something up for everyone not in the NYC area: Rudy Giuliani is not someone we want in a national office.

As someone who was in NYC on 9/11, I have to say that he was absolutely amazing. He stepped up and took charge when we needed him to.

However, on a day-to-day basis, he was an awful mayor. Yes, he cleaned up crime in the city and made it a safer place to live...but he wasn't content to stop there.

After cracking down on violent crime, he cracked down on adult entertainment...after that he went after nightclubs and bars...then it was the cab drivers...then it was the street vendors...then it was the jaywalkers...then it was art galleries...then it was the hotdog stands that are on every other corner....

In short, he did some good things and then tried to outdo himself and appeared to go mad with power. He wanted to control every little thing that went on in this city, which is insane. (In hindsight, I think the reason he was so good on 9/11 is that he treated everyday in the city as if it were an emergency.)

He was great when we needed him to be, but he is NOT someone that you want to have any more power than he did.

21. On the Dem ticket???? I thought Rudy would replace Cheney on *'s ticket...
But with Dick's recent "in great health" medical exam report, I have my doubts now. It appears Dick is along for the ride.

24. To quote Randi: "Who cares? Still voting against"
I don't know where you got his opposition to war - it would be a bit counterproductive for W to run with someone who opposed the CENTERPIECE of his polici now, non?
Rudy will lose NY too!
