Colmes to Kerry: "Would you keep anybody from the Bush 43 administration?"
Kerry: This Administration Has Misled America
A full transcript of John Kerry's exclusive interview with Fox News Channel's "Hannity and Colmes" on May 13, 2004:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,119956,00.html

KERRY: I don't think you have to keep people in order to be bipartisan, but I can guarantee you this. I will reach across the aisle. I will look for Republicans, independents, people of quality to serve in my administration in whatever ability possible. And I think we need more than tokenism in bipartisanship.

President Bush said he was a uniter. The one entity he's united in America is the Democratic Party. The country itself is more divided than ever.

And I have never, in all the years I've been in the United States Senate seen a Congress as dysfunctional, as unproductive, as partisan and as divided as this one is. And I think it is partly because of the absence of presidential leadership to actually bring people together to find the common ground.

I know how to do that. I've done it, and I'm going to do it as president.

2. Uh, John, it was a "yes or no" question . . . and your answer is
you will look for "people of quality."

So I guess that means "no," since any person of quality has already resigned from the Bush mis-administration.

5. Well, yes, I hear "no," and he never actually says it...
...and in the way of constructive criticism in support of Senator Kerry, maybe the time for letting people "read between the lines" has passed.

You mean "no," you say "no." I don't think John Kerry has issues with George W. Bush. I think he has issues with the George W. Bush administration, INCLUDING George W. Bush.

There's nothing in his response that even remotely suggests he'd consider keeping any of the "Axis of Evil" on the payroll. Give us a "no," Senator.

Amazing what one doesn't see when they aren't looking.

8. Colmes asked this?
I would've answered..."No! What kind of question is that? Are you crazy? Alan, do you REALLY think any of them deserve to keep their jobs?"

11. No. I'm not running for Prez because I'm not rich...
I'm also not an influential Senator, I'm not privy to the inner workings of the party, and haven't pressed enough flesh. None of that matters to me, because I think Kerry's a great guy, but lets face it, this game is closed out to most people, which is really why honestly answering ridiculous questions with a snappy comeback is rare.

12. Kerry Married A Republican
Being a Republican doesn't make a hobgoblin. There are alot of issues that we can strategically agree on. The Foreign Relations Committee is famous for its bipartisanship. You know the phrase "politics stops at the water's edge?"

You just play up their abilities in the service of your agenda. For example (albeit a pretty dumb one), is then-Republican Teresa Heinz was made head of the EPA, she'd probably have done a great job. You find the capacities of the people that work for you and you put them to your best advantage.

John McCain pioneered some legislation with Kerry regarding CAFE standards. He's also great on campaign finance reform. I wouldn't put him anywhere near Roe v. Wade, but why would I have to?
