Secretary of State Joe Biden?
Iraqi crisis puts Delaware's senior senator in demand in the media - and at the White House
By ERIN KELLY
Washington Bureau reporter
05/15/2004

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Joe Biden says there is "no possibility" that Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will choose him as a running mate despite recent media speculation to the contrary.

However, Biden said he would consider becoming secretary of state if Kerry wins the White House and asks the Delaware Democrat to join his Cabinet.

The fact that Biden's name has been mentioned by pundits and the press for two such important jobs underscores how prominent he has become as his expertise on foreign policy is sought by everyone from Kerry to Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Since the war began in Iraq, his position has made him a much sought-after guest on CNN and the Sunday political talk shows, where he has urged the Bush administration to seek help from U.S. allies to bring stability to Iraq. He gets 10 to 20 requests for TV appearances a day, said his press secretary, Margaret Aitken.

4. Eh...
Biden is a good guy, but I'm not sure of his ability of diplomacy, or his decisiveness. IMO, he takes too many compromised stances.

I think about Sec of State Bill Clinton.

5. Only if McCain becomes president.
Biden? Why in the world would we want yet another pro-war, DLC approved, political hack, like Biden in with a pro-war, DLC approved, political hack like Kerry?

Of course, that's exactly why Kerry might pick him.

6. Oh, play your violin for us.
You talk about Kerry as if he isn't our best shot.

7. "Best shot" for what? More of the same?
Now he's talking about sending more troops to Iraq to back up his pathetic IWR vote. He's tiptoeing through the issues to avoid being called a (gasp) liberal.

Don't get me wrong, he'll be better than the TexanTwirp, but not much. And, not enough to get me to vote for him.
