Alter on Franken: Clark for VP (if not McCain)
He suddenly remembered that Clark was great on the campaign trail - connected with voters, was ELECTRIC in Hew Hampshire.
Thanks, Jonathan. Too bad you never reported this detail during the primaries. But your U turn is appreciated.
Also not spreading Drudge lies anymore.
Franken was mute. When Alter dismissed Geppy, Catherine said: "You broke Al's heart"

I love Franken - but there's something personal there - dunno what.
he was supposed to do a fundraiser for Clark back in december and didn't show up withoit any notice. I heard it was a death in the family then, but eversince he goes to great lengths to not say "Clark". he even talked around him describing last week's MTP - giving Carl Levin Clark's lines.
Randi has a thing for Clark (even if she doesn't think he'll be VP) morning Sedition endorsed him for VP as "Friend of the Room" (he was on)

4. As long as it's not Gephardt
Geppy for VP would tell me that JFK is unfit to lead this country because that would be just a dreadful choice. Nothing against Gep but he's no match for Clark.

9. I am glad that
Jonathan Alter changed his tune....

Jonathan Alter over at Newsweek was the one who wrote up the Conventional Wisdom piece back in February that spread the Drudge Rumor to it's mainstream current status.......Clark spreading the rumor about Kerry and the Intern.

After an intense letter writing campaign to Newsweek, http://frenchiecat.forclark.com/story/2004/2/23/132439/147

http://frenchiecat.forclark.com/story/2004/2/24/15428/0213

and the eventual publishing of Campaign Desk's investigation into the Newsweek item (written by Mr. Alter) entitled "Newsweek Didn't" http://www.cjr.org/blog/archives/cat_fact_check.asp#000194

and back and forth emailing to have Alter retract the comment.....for which he only eventually admitted that the repetition of the unfounded rumor was "not my best hour nor Newsweek".

He has since published last week's CW (Conventional Wisdom) with a positive Clark for VP blurp in it....and now he is talking positively about Clark on Air America.

Good for him....as he may have repented.....But I wouldn't be too thankful, if I were any of you all.....I would prefer that our letter writing be put to good use. If we compliment him too much....he might revert back to his old self....thinking, OK, I made amends....now I can be an As*hole again.

In the meantime, the "rumor" continues to spread like a wildfire...evidenced with the the 5/14/04 Pickface AP article (that was published in hundreds of newspapers) and now Mr. Canellos of the Globle.

Letterwriting helps.....as shown here with Mr. Jonathan Alter's change of heart...

So what are you waiting for?.....please go to my blog and get all of the info and write. Make sure to CC all that I list. This is where you can make a difference.

http://frenchiecat.forclark.com/story/2004/5/18/134226/345

What was done with Mr. Alter can be repeated successfully....I'm sure that copying his bosses, his advertisers, and scores of media watchdogs also nudge him over to the "Bright" side.
