USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll results

1. If Massachusetts Senator John Kerry were the Democratic Party's candidate and George W. Bush were the Republican Party's candidate, who would you be more likely to vote for?

Kerry Bush Neither Other No opinion

Even when a 3 way match up is done, Kerry is 47 % Bush 46 %. This seems to indicate that Nader is also taking votes from Bush, as well as Kerry, but onlt half as many.

likely voters.

"This poll was conducted among a nationwide random sample of 1,113 adults interviewed by telephone May 20-23, 2004. The error due to sampling could be plus or minus three percentage points for results based on the entire sample. The error for subgroups may be higher. "

5. His approval rating in this poll is 47 percent
and that's his share of the vote. Remember, CNN/USA Today polls and WaPo polls are higher than others, so the worst-case scenario for Kerry is a tie or a lead within the margin or error. And since he'll get the bulk of the undecided vote, he's actually doing better than that.
