KCCI poll shows Kerry slightly ahead in Iowa
KCCI Poll: Kerry Ahead Of Bush In Tight Iowa Race
Poll Conducted May 23 Through May 25

POSTED: 2:17 pm CDT May 26, 2004
UPDATED: 5:29 pm CDT May 26, 2004

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Results of an exclusive KCCI poll released Wednesday show why Iowa is being called a battleground state in the 2004 election. Although John Kerry has a slight lead, the race is very tight in Iowa.

Out of 604 Iowans who regularly vote in state elections, 48 percent said they would vote for John Kerry in a race against President George W. Bush, while 43 percent said they would vote for Bush and 9 percent were undecided.

1. Kerry
should be able to take Iowa. If he doesn't we are in trouble.

2. I agree
Iowa is for Kerry. We went for Dukakis and we are becoming a more progressive state as time goes on. I think 5 points is way too close, it has to be 8-10 points ahead for Kerry in reality.

6. yes, but
Gore won Iowa by only a few thousand votes and if Nader is on the ballot again this year it could still be close for Kerry.

3. The media wants to keep this thing close.
What they fail to mention is that the undecided vote trends with the challenger.

4. That's a significant improvement over 2000
Gore took Iowa by just 4000 votes - 0.4%

5. I was skeptical about the Zogby poll

I'm glad Kerry is ahead here. He shouldn't lose IA. It's more likely for Kerry to carry IA than MO and NV (though I don't doubt he will).
