I'm warming up to Kerry a bit
I've spoken out against him before, and my basic opinion hasn't changed. I don't agree with him, and I'd rather see a progressive. That being said, he does have the advantage of looking calm, sensible, and presidential. I feel like running into his arms in the midst of all this chaos, so to speak. (And, no, Dean doesn't make me feel like that.) So maybe Kerry has a better persona for this particular election. Plus, he won't actively block progressive legislation. We can work for what we want from the ground up and know that, if we succeed, Kerry will likely sign it.

1. This is a good point, and something I don't think has been well-hyped.

Those who say all the horrors that have happened since bush "took" office are the fault of the Pentagon or the This Office or That Office or This Operative or That Operative or This Grouping of People or That Grouping of People are missing the boat. ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME. All THESE roads lead straight back to bush. NONE of these despicable people WOULD EVEN BE THERE, TO BEGIN WITH, if it hadn't been for him. His ascendance to the throne meant he brought ALL THOSE PEOPLE WITH HIM, either actively or passively, by recruiting them, appointing them or approving them from somebody else's recruitment (that somebody else, by the way, AMONG the vermin that were part of his package deal and wouldn't have ANY business at the White House if somebody else was in there).

When Kerry arrives, do you think for one second that he's going to pack his Defense Department with PNACers? That he's going to turn his Justice Department over to lapdogs and pirates and cheaters? That he's going to hand over the Interior Department to a land rapist or a robber baron? Do you think the oil people are gonna be able to get their filthy, greasy paws all over everything if Kerry's around?

I have a girlfriend, in fact, a BEST friend, who wasn't 100 percent sure about bush in 2000 but voted for him (she's kinda conservative anyway) and later explained to me that worn-out justification that it's "the people around him" who'll make this administration work like a charm, even if he's kind of a dim bulb himself. A few weeks ago, she emailed me (one of those times when we were sorting out the problems of the Western World together) and commented that those very people around him have ransacked the place here at home and left us with a big fat black eye to the rest of the world! Guess who SHE'S not gonna vote for this time around?

I agree with you, a tall, imposing, serious, deep-thinking guy with an air of gravitas around him, who reminds me of the photo on the 20-dollar bill, does indeed inspire me, too, to run to him for comfort (although Howard Dean DID VERY MUCH give me that same idea - I felt he'd be out there punching people in the nose for me) while Kerry might be more inclined to try to reason with 'em. But NEVER MIND! Kerry's the anointed one, so be it, I'm supporting him. Plus, our environment won't be sold down the river to the highest bidder or the most powerful oil driller anymore with him around, considering his ace environmental record. AND he'll have a First Lady who's an international (I forget how many languages she speaks), a powerful, intelligent, cultured, effective and respected businesswoman and philanthropist in her own right (in parts of Pennsylvania, I'm told they love her so much for what she's done that they refer to her as "Mother Theresa") who's got a little glamour and elegance and sophistication and will be a virtual Jackie Kennedy for us. Not to mention the irresistable connection to a husband whose initials just happen to be JFK... (nobody's fully explored or exploited THAT one, either).

He won't actively block progressive legislation, and if we stay on his ass and keep him steered straight, he won't fuck up the Supreme Court for a generation, as this creep we suffer under right now can't wait to do.

He's the guy who's bringing us to the dance, it appears. So let's dance with him, then! All night (and into the next four years)!

4. Very encouraging.
I think that Kerry's reassuring, intelligent demeaner will win more and more converts over time. The clueless one who pretends to be in charge is losing more and more fence-sitters as Kerry gets more familiar with the general public. He's focusing on a better vision for America and the public is starting to tire of the "all war, all the time" mantras that eminate from the WH. Bush fatigue is happening and I really doubt that anyone except the mindless Bushbots will vote for 4 more years of this idiot.

6. The debates should be classic
If Kerry preps well he could wipe the floor with shrub's hairpiece.

7. Who do you want in your fox hole
That would be a much better question than the drink a beer or backyard bbq question. Not to over-militarize the election, but it might be a better way to frame the personality debate this year. I sure as hell wouldn't want George Bush anywhere near me on a battlefield. It is a different time and there's more important things to consider than the "folksy" personality of some fucktard who cracks corny jokes.

9. I'd still rather be around Kerry than Bush in social situations...
I couldn't possibly see having an intelligent conversation with Bush. But on the other hand, Kerry is quite intelligent and has a great sense of humor. We'd get along just fine.

12. Well me too
And I would definitely rather spend the afternoon with Teresa than Laura!

I was just thinking the fox hole thing would be a great way to get around the "have a beer" thing. Especially with some of the neanderthals we have in this country! I honestly can't imagine most males truly wanting George Bush in their fox hole!

14. yeah, i like that question
it would be good for many supporters of kerry to use. also, we give the reason we want kerry because he has already shown he would risk his life to save others.

how about something like "i know kerry will protect america because he has already shown he would when he risked his life to same another american". something like that but using better words .

8. War on every continent?
Check out this line in Kerry's press release from this morning:

"...we must take the fight to the enemy on every continent..."

What the crap is this? He needs Progressives. He needs the peace vote. The Kerry people need to listen to the base, and talk about getting out of the wars we're in instead of starting a whole bunch of new ones.

11. Kerry sees terror as a LAW ENFORCEMENT fight.
Special forces would only come in to back up law enforcement in specific situations, like when Bin Laden was found in Tora Bora. Kerry's way would have had Bin Laden's ass nailed back then.

kerry's way of fighting on every continent is with strong relations with every continent because you get better intel through strong diplomacy.

You aren't deliberately misinterpreting Kerry's position are you?

15. He's not talking about wars
Good lord. He's talking about intelligence gathering, money laundering, arresting people, infiltrating cells, that sort of thing. Did you listen to the WHOLE speech or just try to find anything you could to justify hating him? Kerry doesn't need the peace vote. But the peace vote definitely needs John Kerry as President unless they really do want wars on every continent.
