letsstoop glorifying mccain
For those of you who remember, the 80's saw a bust of S&L's. Papa senior was the vp in charge of supervising these banks but, of course he had to protect his buddies and his son neil from the publics eye.
Anyway theost notorious crook of them all was charles keating and guess who did his best to cover up or at least get out of the public eye? Guess who was in the in,nvestigating committee and who, coincidentally, received contribtuions and free flights on the company jet???
Yes indeed our model of integrity mr McCain

1. Not only that (and this may be a little off topic, but...)
McCain ALSO was on the committee that wrote the new ANTI-First Amendment law where any "indecent" incident on any broadcast can carry a fine of $500,000.00 now (translation: talk bad about Bush, and your license is RIPPED). And the letter I sent him to COMPLAIN about that law was responded to with a form letter CHAMPIONING the fact that HE helped WRITE IT! He has his good points (for a Republican), but more and more, I can't stand the guy.

2. One more reason...
to get off the McCain bandwagon.

I kinda like McCain, but I kinda liked Bob Dole, too. Not that I would want either of them to have any more power than they get in the Senate, though. The Presidency or cabinet positions are unthinkable.

McCain's as far right as you're gonna find in Washington, and the only difference between him and the Santorum-type nuts is that you can deal with him. He's old school, and knows he can't get his way all the time. I like seeing him trash Hastert, DeLay, and the other take-no-prisoners types.

We need both left and right wingers in the Hill, and although I'd like to see a few more lefties, I'll take a dozen McCains over one Santorum.

But, only on the Hill, not where he can do more damage.

3. Agreed....McCain is a far right-wing nutcase...
...who, like any broken clock, is right twice a day.

But he's still a right-wing idiot, who is consistantly wrong most of the time.

He supports Bush in almost everything.

Don't waste a single second thinking that McCain might be "good" for Kerry's ticket.

He's like hiring a Hell's Angel to babysit your daughter.

Trouble with a capital 'T'...

4. It's not enough to merely beat Bush
He must be crushed. The World must see that his administration, and their ideology, has been roundly rejected by the American people. Simply getting a plurality is hardly going to lead our (former?) allies and those whom we need to extricate ourselves from this that the citizens of this country deserve their help.

A Kerry/McCain ticket would not only win big, it would put the neoconservative movement forever in the dustbin of history.

7. I beg you to think of the line of succession.

Do you really think the right-wingers will sit still under President Kerry if they know a Republican is within "shooting distance" of the Presidency?

I'm telling you, McCain as VP is an open invitation for some wacko to try and shoot Kerry.

13. the wingers hate McCain
He appeals to about one standard deviation of the bell curve's center, say 68% of the electorate. Veeping him would be a life insurance policy against all but centrist assassins.

18. What happens if Kerry's prostate cancer recurs?
Edited on Fri May-28-04 03:37 PM by greatauntoftriplets
When it recurs, it can spread. Removal of the gland is no guarantee.

We have politicians who have to worry about flying on small aircraft....Wellstone??? Kerry would be assassinated in a heartbeat and don't think he wouldn't be. The repubs and their sheeple are evil ideologues. We can win in a landslide without a repub on our DEM ticket!

I think if McCain were to be Kerry's running mate, it would bring out any and all wing nut that might not have normally voted in order to support bush. Repukes will DRAG anyone and everyone they know to the polls. AND it would keep people like me at home who would think, "what's the use anyway? We now have a Repuke in office thanks to my own party". I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. And I hate it that I do feel this way.

9. Heard McCain on Hannity's freak show -
At the end of an interview where they both agreed that George W. Bush is the most glorius leader ever, McCain signs off telling Hannity, "You're doing the Lord's work."

:wtf:

I'm sickened that so many Dems seem to feel we need a freakin' Republican on the ticket to win! :puke: I thought we were trying to get rid of those bastards! McCain seems nice enough for a Republican but vote for him? Never!
