A thought about 2004 presidential debates....
I saw the thread about who would be the best VP choice to debate Cheney, and something occurred to me: do we honestly expect Bush to debate ANYONE? With dismal performance after dismal performance in press conferences, it's pretty obvious that the man is incapable of stringing a coherent sentence together, much less debate someone like Kerry.

If it happens, it'll be probably the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life, but do you really think Bush's handlers are going to let him go out there all by himself and debate Kerry?

1. He'll debate
and don't underestimate him.

He'll be prepped HARD by Rove and company and the press will give him high marks regardless of his performance.

Rove: Alright Georgie, read that sentance coherently and you'll get another pretzel.

*George reads

Rove: Good boy, George.

3. Junior's handlers will push for a "scripted" debate....
...where he has the questions - and Uncle Dick can feed him the answers ahead of time. And Terry McUseless will likely agree to this shit. Just like they fell for it in 2000, and watched the mediawhores crown Junior the king of the debates, despite the fact that he looked like the total moron that he is in all of them.

Kerry must not settle for this setup. He should demand a REAL debate and if Junior turns it down, expose him for the fraud and coward he is.

4. Just have
Kerry point out all of Shrubya's mistakes these past 4 years and demand him to apologize/explain/bumble through them all. That could take a good long while.

7. * debated Gore several times.
He won at least one (I don't recall much about the other debates). He did okay, but maybe that was because Gore did so, well I don't want to say poorly because he did great on substance. Gore was in that trying-to-be-something-I'm-not mode, and it didn't play well.
