Will war crimes admission hurt John Kerry?
Sean Hannity has been using this around the clock. He fails to mention how much courage it took John Kerry to come back home and speak up about this and dedicate his life to stopping it. To me I think John Kerry should be commended for speaking up about this since no one else would!

Here is the transcript of from Meet the Press in 1971

There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 caliber machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this is ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down. And I believe that the men who designed these, the men who designed the free fire zone, the men who ordered us, the men who signed off the air raid strike areas, I think these men, by the letter of the law, the same letter of the law that tried Lieutenant Calley, are war criminals.

-- John Kerry, on NBC's "Meet the Press" April 18, 1971"

1. Hannity should be arrested for treason
that little worm doesn't have the guts in his whole body that SEnator Kerry has in his little finger. What would Hannity know about combat? He's pure scum.

3. Frankly, Bush supporters would be quite stupid...
...to use the words "war" and "crime" together in a sentence, much less next to each other.

4. The fuckers are running around in circles
If Kerry commits war crimes, he gets grilled, he's a criminal. the abu ghraib crew gets excused.

kerry protests against war crimes, he gets called unpatriotic, a traitor.

5. Burning villages doesn't mean they burned the people in them.
They probably were told to burned villages but I seriously doubt they were burning people. Sean Hannity needs to make a distinction here.

7. I think the Vietnam Vets understand this ... even though Hannity doesn't
Kerry is talking about the US policy in Vietnam...that the soldiers all committed war crimes as a matter of course because of the POLICY. I'd like to know how many soldiers participated in free fire zones. Probably every combat soldier.

a problem? According to Rush Limpballs, war crimes are little worse than fraternity pranks.

9. It's patently dishonest
Hannity knows that the accused war criminal is former Senator Bob Kerrey (Note the difference in spelling) now of the 911 commission.

10. Anyone Ask College Dropout Hannity What A Free Fire Zone Is?
Edited on Thu May-27-04 09:32 PM by DrFunkenstein
"The possibility of killing innocent civilians haunted Kerry. With many of the South Vietnamese waterways in ''free fire zones'' - meaning that the US Navy was authorized to shoot anyone who was violating a curfew - the likelihood that innocent villagers could be killed was high."

http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061603.shtml

I'm not sure, but I don't think Smugface Hannity has to wake up night after night seeing the face of the innocent teenager (or whomever) that he had killed, or faced a mother looking at you after you have wounded her child.

And I really have to wonder if Hannity really wants to talk about Geneva Conventions and top down policy...

Did I mention that Hannity isn't worth the shrapnel in John Kerry's ass?

13. A little story from a little guy
Edited on Thu May-27-04 09:36 PM by Scoopie
My son - who is into all things heroic (firefighters, police officers and the military - he's 5 years old and, as they say, ALL BOY) went to sleep tonight with his G.I. Joe action figures (he gets mad when I call them "dolls" :D ) and told me that one was Kerry and one was Clark.
I smiled, of course, and said, "That's right, son, and they will protect you from the dark (he's afraid of the dark)."
So, he asked me what war(s) they fought in. I told him and he promptly replied, "And Bush fought nothing."

My son is 5 years old and he "gets it." Surely the American public will, too... hopefully more sooner than later.
