Washington Post: From Bush, Unprecedented Negativity
It was a typical week in the life of the Bush reelection machine.

Last Monday in Little Rock, Vice President Cheney said Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry "has questioned whether the war on terror is really a war at all" and said the senator from Massachusetts "promised to repeal most of the Bush tax cuts within his first 100 days in office."

On Tuesday, President Bush's campaign began airing an ad saying Kerry would scrap wiretaps that are needed to hunt terrorists. The same day, the Bush campaign charged in a memo sent to reporters and through surrogates that Kerry wants to raise the gasoline tax by 50 cents. On Wednesday and Thursday, as Kerry campaigned in Seattle, he was greeted by another Bush ad alleging that Kerry now opposes education changes that he supported in 2001.

The charges were all tough, serious -- and wrong, or at least highly misleading. Kerry did not question the war on terrorism, has proposed repealing tax cuts only for those earning more than $200,000, supports wiretaps, has not endorsed a 50-cent gasoline tax increase in 10 years, and continues to support the education changes, albeit with modifications.

Scholars and political strategists say the ferocious Bush assault on Kerry this spring has been extraordinary, both for the volume of attacks and for the liberties the president and his campaign have taken with the facts. Though stretching the truth is hardly new in a political campaign, they say the volume of negative charges is unprecedented -- both in speeches and in advertising.

1. They've been lying to Americans for four years.
Are the media just catching on to the fact that the Bush Administration is a pack of self-serving liars?

Bush is a U-N-I-T-E-R, not a divider. Since when have facts got in the way of anything this maladministration wants to accomplish anyway? They started out by stealing the election and making a mockery of Democracy and everything's gone downhill from there.
Most corrupt administration, ever!

4. Isn't that a cicada heading right for him?
Cicada update:
They are all over. They are clumsy fliers, bump into buildings and you find the sidewalks littered with their little corpses. The pools open this weekend and they are full of little drowned cicadas.

5. Jim VandeHei is improving
Edited on Mon May-31-04 01:26 AM by Eric J in MN
Jim VandeHei previously wrote two articles for the Washington Post which gave some readers the false impression that John Kerry has raised the most special interest money of any Senator.

I guess he's decided to tell it like it is, instead.

6. This is the Washington Post, folks.
It's my local paper, and it's practically the voice of the Democratic party. Sometimes it's so biased in our favor that I burst out laughing.

When the Gannett chain starts running stories like this, I'll believe the word is getting out. Articles like this in the WP or the NYT are just preaching to the choir.

15. Voice of the democratic party?

:wtf:

This paper wholeheartedly supported the war in Iraq. The NYT was a mouthpiece through Judith Miller, for Chalabi and neocon crowd. And then don't forget Adam Nogorney's anti Kerry series.

16. Howard Kurtz And Chuck Krauthammer?
C'mon now. The WP is my paper of choice for political news (of the major outlets), but it is hardly because it is a beacon of liberalism.

Here's a great site for pinpointing anti-Kerry bias & outright bullshit. Notice the slew of Washington Post entries...

9. Kerry needs to do an ad
with clips from the chimp ad lies....."Lies and the Truth" side by side ...a chimp lie ad clip and Kerry telling the actual truth of what he said or did on that particular issue. Show the sheeple how BLATANT they are. He needs a pictorial for the sheeple to show exactly how the repubs twist facts into lies. Like 1st grade....show them pictures.

11. How about the Slogan:
George Bush: He has to lie about Kerry, because he can't afford to
tell the truth about himself.
