Kerry Pays Tribute to Fellow Veterans

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=703&e=2&u=/ap/20040531/ap_on_el_pr/kerry

WASHINGTON - John Kerry (news - web sites) paid a solemn early morning visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday, offering a quiet Memorial Day counterpoint to President Bush (news - web sites)'s tribute to the fallen across the Potomac River at Arlington National Cemetery.

I know it's not quite a campaign event, but that's why I thought I'd mention it here -- it's quite a contrast to the Chimp's appearance today, at least as I saw it. I believe Kerry feels something when he goes to the wall, he means what he says about veterans, and having this soldier's name engraved was important to him; the Chimp held up Rumsfeld and got into terrorism/Iraq political hay in the first few minutes of his speech, after which I turned it off.

1. I saw some of that on CNN.
It was very touching. Every time I see the Vietnam Memorial Wall....I cry my eyes out. Seeing it in person....is overwhelming to me.

I respect the way he did this today. Quietly honoring those who died in war.

Then we have the chimp who uses the day to propagandize. :grr:

2. I got an email from the campaign telling me to support the troops.
WHich I thought was a good gesture on his part.

4. Kerry honors the service of the veterans - Bush uses them for a campaign
prop - hopefully voters will see the difference.
