funniest reply to date~ phone banking
I was making some calls yesterday evening, this is the funniest conversation yet.
I am very happy with most calls, O is getting more support in WV than I expected. Even when some have decided they are very nice, typical of WV'ans

me: Hi, I am pkz (pixie) calling from the Obama Campaign, I would like to talk to you about the importance of your vote in the Primary May 13th.

John: if you are calling for support, forget it, I am a Hillary girl"

He is known locally as a guy that likes to drink, just got out of prison for stealing a bulldozer to ram his ex's house and this is WV....go figure...

A Hillary girl? LOL
I doubt that he will even go to vote.

9. Eh, you got the story out of it.
I think it's a net positive.

A dude saying he's a "Hillary Girl" makes it worth it, I think.

"Hello, can I speak to the Hillary Girl of the house, please?"

18. that wouldn't stop a Repugnicon ...

20. Common Misconception
West Virginia is one of twenty states where upon completion of sentence voting rights are restored.

3. "...You're overeducated"
Was the best reply I got while phone banking. This was from a supposed Hillary supporter too. I don't think he was though because he was a straight up racist. I got that reply after I shot down his "Obama is a Muslim!!!!" garbage.

7. This guy wasn't a Clinton supporter though.
Or I really really doubt it. I think he was just being contrary and wanted the conversation to go on longer than the "Are you planning on participating in the Democratic Primary" question.

5. My favorite phone-banking experience...
When I was making calls for Obama here in NH:
Me: "Hello; My name is Zanne, and I'm calling from the Obama campaign...
Reply: "What are you wearing"?

Edited on Thu May-01-08 06:45 AM by onenote
Oh, wait. There is nothing in the post that gives you any idea who John is. Maybe you could contact everyone named John in West Virginia. Won't leave you much time to post here. We'll miss you.

Try again.

11. obvious that you've worked on a lot of campaigns. NOT.
In addition to phone banking, volunteers go door to door. In their own neighborhoods. Ooooh...

15. actually, I was responding to leftofcool
who seemed unfamiliar with the notion that volunteers often do local canvassing by phone/door to door.

Keep up the great work!!

17. My Experience
Phonebanking primarily to voters in Western Pennsylvania, this elderly guy answers and says, "If Obama gets the nomination, I'm voting for McCain, and I've been a lifelong registered Democrat." The very next call, I speak to another elderly guy, member of the Teamsters and a Republican who says that come the general election, both he and his wife will vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever it is.

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
