I just met Barack Obama today!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/amandascott/gGCSY4/commentary

I'm the red-head in the white shirt behind him! He signed my book (his book Dreams from my father), I gave him a copy of a peak oil book I have by Richard Heinberg with my website inside the cover and address, and told him to read it and look at it after this is all over! We talked, and I got my picture taken with him!

There were mostly farmers there and Obama talked mainly about energy and farming issues. I was asked to come because I was a volunteer. It was awesome! Loved it! Only about 80 people were there in a cattle barn!

7. Awesome! Head to Cass County. We only have 9 locals that've been working
since last Saturday. We have an organizer staying in a hotel until May 6th starting tomorrow. I'm from a real small red-Republican area.

17. You guys make me so proud
I don't know where they want me to go yet as a day-tripper from Cincinnati, but I'm looking at Indianapolis and all points east.

Any and all suggestions will be entertained! Can't wait to join the Hoosier Team! And living in the tri-state, I'm also working in Kentucky, and we've got one kick-ass Northern Kentucky rock bash fundraiser Saturday night!

How exciting for you, gorgeous!!! C'mon, Indiana!!!!

16. No! I photograph horribly. I try to avoid being on camera.
I was tired. We waited for 2 hours before he came. Some people were getting antzy. But it all passed after he came. The crowd was quiet and response was good concerning how wrong the war has been and our veterans who aren't getting the care they need.

11. Lots of farming questions I know nothing about! lol
Some were undecided and farmers. CNN was there and then all the local South Bend stations. The cameras were straight on and the lights were bothersome. The reaction seemed positive. IT wasnt like a rally, it was more subdued with so few people. Only one old guy managed to throw in a question about the pledge of allegiance controversy but Barack said there were plenty of youtube clips of him saying the pledge and not to worry, he does. The rest of the questions were about food shortages around the world, energy, farming problems from high energy prices. Really good.

37. No, I didn't hear much chatter because I was so tired I just wanted to get home~
I had a 2 hour drive home to make and hadn't eaten all day! I just dropped everything and came when I was asked!

But if you see the pictures and the clip--note the older man in the red sweatshirt. He's a Republican that says he is voting for Obama. He also said if Obama doesn't win, he is voting for McCain in the GE. He does not want Hillary. He said he likes Obama the best and will vote for him over McCain in the GE. He is a retired Korean war veteran and bus driver. he was very nice.

The other 2 people in front of me were farmers and I don't know how they felt. The couple next to me on my right were a young couple from Goshen. They said they both had Republican parents from CA & IN. They were more progressive than their parents. They were also volunteers in their area for Obama. They said Goshen was so covered now that the campaign has closed up the HQs there because everything is taken care of there?? I didn't quite understand.

24. Ya know, one of the things about this campaign that we bitch about is...
... how long it's lasting.

And then I read this story from a fired-up Hoosier and I get all gushy about democracy and how all states should have their say instead of all of this crap being decided by Super Tuesday.

Score One For America!!!

so I gave him "THe Party's Over". He looked at the subtitle "Oil, War & the Fate of Industrialized Societies" and it looked like he was interested.

I'm not messing around, I went straight to the top and in-person! lol He can find out more on my website! lol

34. Well, either it's a fluke or I'm just knocking on the right doors in my area--
or the walking listss had them identified well but out of 90 doors knocked between 2 of us this past weekend, 31 answered the door, 19 claimed to be avid Obama supporters, 9 were still undecided, 5 were Republicans, and 2 were Hillary. It's been running in those ratios with the undecideds we've been contacting. That's all I know for my red, red area so far.

52. i have no clue! I guess 'cuz it was focused on farming and rural issues.
I didn't really feel like I belonged there at all. I think people in campaigns get this idea that all the small town city 'folk know all the farmers or something. That's just not the case. I don't know too many farmers at all.

They must be the ones who grow the arugula.
I myself am green with jealousy. The only politician I ever got to meet here in Virginia was the infamous Senator George Allen. I got to see him ride his horse in the 4th of July parade. Not to long after that, he got road out on a rail.
