National Enquirer Piles On: cover story on Obama marriage
When the media goes all out to destroy somebody, the shit comes from every direction. Just passed the supermarket counter and the cover story is "Obama Marriage Breaking Up - Wife Accuses him of Cheating" or some such.

I know it's just the Enquirer but it has a low information voter readership and it's kind of a weird indicator of when things are really going south for somebody.

For more on whose friend and financial backer owns the Enquirer, here is an October article from Ben Smith at Politico when the rag ran a story about the Edwards' marriage.

24. Two weeks in a row HC is the big story in the Globe

The Enquirer story on Obama is weak -- I was shocked because they genrally don't bother the Clinton's.

3. OH whjo cares - one of the others is going on about Hillary's torrid gay affair with her staffer
Frankly I don't think the people who read those papers vote anyway because they're too worried about ending up in some b9ig government database or having black helicopters fly over their house.

12. And they've been reporting on the Bushes' supposed marital woes for years.
Like how George is drinking again and Laura is staying at a hotel.

Which...Why would she stay at a hotel across town? It's not like there's not an extra bedroom at the WH or anything.

11. Hillary adpoted an alien baby
I saw it on a tabloid 10 years ago.

People who get their 'news' from tabloids probably don't vote or wouldn't be voting for Obama anyway.

OUr founding fathers stated that we needed an informed electorate. Well, we sure are informed. Just npt with anything that is either factual or of value.

18. I'm considering the merits of a maximum voting age.
And I'm only sort of kidding about that, too. Recently, some volunteers circulating nominating petitions here in Arizona reported that there were Democratic voters in a retirement community who refused to sign the petition of an African-American candidate, for no other reason than because he was black.

22. The Enquirer Has One Advantage
A reputation for actually being right occasionally, like a stopped clock twice a day.

I personally have no knowledge or belief in there being any substance to it, by the way.

But I wouldn't characterize the media as going all out to target Obama; running for the Democratic nomination and the presidency, he's fair game. I'd be more concerned when the serious, mainstream journalists (do we really have them anymore, of any partisan stripe?) take off the gloves.

Speaking of "low-information voters", maybe we're relying a little too much on the internet, bloggers, and TV. And what we read while standing in the checkout line.

31. Whatever happened with the Saddam Hussein / Osama marriage?
Apparently they had a gay wedding, with Hussein as the bride. It was reported in the Globe. It was real! Honest! They even had a picture of the married couple. Hussein looked stunning in white. (It is sort of odd that he chose a western-style wedding dress though).

A few weeks later the Globe reported that they had "adopted" a chimpanzee as their child, and shaved it to appear more human-like.
