Re HClinton & Feminism
If you have a moment or two, this is a provocative read from THE NATION:

1. It raced to the bottom here, my friend:

Besides the title, maybe people are so tired of this race. But where are the feminists now?

2. Hi, babylonsister. I didn't know you'd posted this already.

Reed's piece covers a lot of ground, but its essence frames HClinton as a non-feminist (at best) and possibly an anti-feminist.

Thanks for that link & heads up -- it shows us what's out there for the next several months.

That old Dickens line about the best of times and the worst of times comes to mind...

3. It's so tiring to me. I wish I could post current events that people
used to embrace on DU. That hasn't happened in awhile. I miss people getting pissed off at this admin.
But I dread daily my candidate getting creamed for no real reason, too. I'm looking forward to the best of times, soon, I hope.
:hi: You are always a voice I love to hear; I hope you know that.

16. Bush's face. And the sound of his voice.
Yuck City.

When they run an audio of Bush on the radio I lunge for the dial and listen to anything else at all.

Can we hold the general election next week instead of next fall? I'm ready.

 :hi:

4. This article is quite ugly. Senator Clinton has proven herself
a feminist time and time again.

7. You twist things to encourage more hate-speech on this board.
What does it ultimately do for you or anyone else?

11. Truth is not ambivalent, nor is it varied
Get your Neo-Con crap off this board.

Torture is not varied or a viewpoint.

15. I personally feel she had a stronger case with IT TAKES A VILLAGE
and have defended her for that accomplishment against the Hannitys and Limbaughs.

Of late the notion of her feminism has come under some strain.

18. About ITAV: The Ghost and Mrs. Clinton (Time)
EVEN BEFORE HILLARY CLINTON'S NEW BOOK, IT TAKES A VILlage, hit the stores, Washington heard the rumor: the book was ghosted. The charge so exasperated the White House that several journalists, including TIME correspondent James Carney, were invited to Mrs. Clinton's private study to check the manuscript, including legal pads covered with her handwriting. Says Carney: "There is no doubt Mrs. Clinton wrote great parts of the book."

But as the White House acknowledged last week, there had been a collaborator. Barbara Feinman, a veteran book doctor, was hired by publisher Simon & Schuster to help organize the book and draft several chapters. Mrs. Clinton liked the initial chapters, say sources on Feinman's side. As the work progressed, Feinman stayed overnight at the White House and even accompanied the First Family to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, last summer. In October, according to Feinman's side, Mrs. Clinton called the writer to say the work was fine. But after Feinman returned from a trip to Italy, the publisher told her the First Lady was unhappy. What changed? Sources say Feinman declined an offer to ghostwrite the First Lady's syndicated column; it is also possible that Mrs. Clinton grew disenchanted with Feinman's work during revisions. Whatever the reason, book-industry sources say Mrs. Clinton, whose profits go to charity, had aides suggest that Simon & Schuster withhold a fourth of Feinman's $120,000 fee--a charge the White House denies.

The White House concedes that Feinman collaborated on about eight chapters, which they say the First Lady reworked. Under a confidentiality agreement, Feinman can't comment publicly. Nothing, however, forbids Mrs. Clinton to cite her collaborator. But her acknowledgement page thanks no one by name.

12. "Issues of war and peace" always have been part of the feminist agenda
and by that measure alone, Clinton's campaign cannot be considered a feminist project, no matter that she is a woman.

17. People addicted to drugs are said to have dreams of craving -- "drug
dreams" -- in which they are returned to circumstances when they had access to the drug, were using it recreationally, or even spiritually, but in any case, their whole being is craving the compound and how it makes them feel.

I have dreams like that only with Bella Abzug. The feminist agenda, layered onto public service, seemed to me to be met in Barbara Jordan and Bella Abzug and women of that time and circumstances.

Can I have them back?

good morning, good person. Loved your line yesterday on HClinton becoming from Guam & Puerto Rico!

13. I'm still waiting for a Hillary supporting feminist to explain how they can support Hillary....

given the fact she has an admitted sexual harasser, working in a top position in her campaign.

If Obama had a top level campaign staffer who has sex with a subordinate employee in the workplace, feminists 4 Hill would be screaming from the rooftops about how horrible it was and demanding that person be fired and that Obama publicly disavow and reject their thoughts, words, deeds, and feeling repeatedly, or it means he supports that kind of behavior.
