5. Quite An Endorsement!
"Clinton regrettably has pandered more to voters, particularly on gas prices, than Obama. Both have taken stands on free trade that give in to protectionism.

Clinton also was an integral part of her husband's political machine, which earned a reputation for flattening opponents. That factor understandably gives many voters pause about whether another Clinton should serve as president."

The Republicans then pull them rightward.

In case you haven't noticed, they don't compromise! Either you do what they want, or it doesn't get done. They filibuster and use the MSM and right-wing radio to force compromise on THEIR terms, not Democratic terms!

The entire Democratic Party has been pulled rightward thanks to the DLC's "third way" shit.

15. And McCain!
"A VOTE FOR MCCAIN

Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, has a long and distinguished record of service to this nation, both in the U.S. Senate and U.S. Navy.

McCain offers strong foreign policy experience, a record of fiscal discipline, and a history of reaching out to political opponents that few in Washington, D.C., can match.

McCain secured the Republican nomination months ago, and as a result has spent little time campaigning in Indiana. He should not, however, take victory in the state for granted this fall.

In Tuesday's Republican primary, The Star endorses John McCain."

Is it just me or does it sound like the editorial board prefers McCain? Why no mention of his gas tax "pandering" as they nailed Hillary for?

31. That's true. Hi, Armstead. Good to see you.
I will never ever forget the Quayle win over incumbent liberal Senator Birch Bayh, Evan's old man.

Birch and my family tree go back a ways with a great deal of affection and respect and the night that little shithead Dan Quayle defeated him -- with the chirping chorus of the STAR all along the campaign -- was a dark evening indeed.

42. Indianapolis Star: October 17, 2004:

"It is time for experience and resolve, which is why George Bush should be re-elected for a second term. Without a re-election facing him, the president can move to do those things he said he would do in his first presidential campaign."

Anyone else think that maybe, just maybe, their judgments about "experience" leave something to be desired?

43. This is a rightwing paper owned by Dan Quayle's family
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_C._Quayle
After the war, Quayle married Corrine Pulliam, the daughter of wealthy newspaper publisher Eugene C. Pulliam, at Indiana University. Their marriage united two families that shared a strong passion for the newspaper business. Pulliam is the daughter of Eugene C. Pulliam, former owner of the Indianapolis Star and The Indianapolis News and the half-sister of Eugene S. Pulliam, for whom the school of journalism at Butler University is named.

It was right wing in the 1970s - and still is. This is almost as good as getting Mellon Schaife's paper's endorsement.
