On one hand, both the Wright story (which the media whores ran 24/7) and the Kantor story appeal to the worst in us.

Both highlight the underbelly of prejudice and divisiveness. In fact, the very way the media went into a feeding frenzy over Wright was way disproportionate to other far more compelling matters in the world. We know that.

Then again, live by the sword - die by the sword. The same advocates trying to derail the Obama campaign using the politics of division now must face this:

Kantor has been and still is one of the Clinton's trusted confidants in their inner circle.

It's too damn bad we have reached this level of acrimony, but Obama will not be swiftboated into submission.

Even assuming Obama takes the high road which is his way, lets hope the Mickey Kantor comment goes viral.

Questions about a YouTube clip

I've been a bit reluctant to post the day's much-emailed, 15-year old clip from 'The War Room' for a couple of reasons -- vintage, and differences from the original.

So this is kind of interesting: Mickey Kantor claims that the clip, in which subtitles have him claiming that the people of Indiana are ... excrement ... and then using a racial slur has been doctored.

He claims to have been deriding the polls, not the people, of Indiana -- I can't actually make out the word. And he denies using the n-word.

Take a look at the recently posted video; and compare with the video and audio around 4:45 from this fuller clip from the video. The offensive bit, which doesn't quite seem to match his lips, is also totally inaudible in the original. It seems to have been added in the new version.

and then it sounds like to me he says something like, "How would you like to be a worthless white asshole." That's what I hear on the fuller tape, and on the early tape. I don't think that the subtitle matches the speech, but the speech itself wasn't edited. Sounds the same in both clips.
