Is the Clinton Campaign Using the Right Wing to Destroy Obama?
<snip>

The Star Ledger has been encouraging a lot of discussion about Barack Obama's links to Rev. Jeremiah Wright and whether he distanced himself sufficiently to avoid any guilt by association.

Yesterday in the Huffington Post, Sid Blumenthal, a close friend and advisor of Hillary Clinton who has been widely credited with coining the term "vast right-wing conspiracy" used by Hillary in 1998 to describe the alliance of conservative media, think tanks, and political operatives that sought to destroy the Clinton White House, appears to be exploiting that same right-wing network to attack and discredit Barack Obama. And he's not hesitating to use the same sort of guilt-by-association tactics that have been the hallmark of the political right dating back to the McCarthy era. Blumenthal regularly dispatches emails to a list of opinion shapers, including journalists, former Clinton administration officials, academics, policy entrepreneurs, and think tankers -- an obvious effort to create an echo chamber that will reverberate among talk shows, columnists, and Democratic Party funders and activists.

What's remarkably for the Blumenthal, who is a well respected liberal writer and political operative, is that many of the anti-Obama attacks he circulates derive from highly-ideological and militant right-wing sources such as the misnamed Accuracy in Media (AIM), The Weekly Standard, City Journal, The American Conservative, and The National Review. For example Blumenthal circulated an outrageous article, "Obama's Communist Mentor," taken from an extreme right-wing group. Peter Dreier's post provides many other examples of Blumenthal's efforts. Dreier's post appeared on the front page of yesterday's Huffington Post. Now that its out, I wonder if Hillary's supporters are offended?

I've been wondering the same thing.

Has anyone heard anything?

All I've heard is crickets.

It seems like "the ends justify the means" is an accepted, if not celebrated, part of the Clinton Campaign.

If I'm wrong, let me know.

5. Yes, but even that shouldn't be the point. The point should be that she enabled the Iraq war
by her vote on the IWR.

She voted for the Kyle/Lieberman ammendment, and has threatened a nuclear attack against Iran if they attacked Israel

That alone should disturb any rational person about a candidate being so casual about her casual use of war

7. No, it goes beyond that:
they are using the RW to destroy the Democratic Party.

13. My vote as well - I believe the RW is behind alot of this
In trying to appeal to moderates she is working to outsmart McCain by agreeing with all his policies. The RW is more than happy to leave her alone and go after Obama because she is the easier one to beat. She goes along to get along, while Obama is more liberal. I'm sure the thought of a black male in the white house scares the crap out of them. Which is exactly why I want him to be the next president.
