This is a complete scam. The video shows Stephanopoulus and Carville going over some data that is really good news for the Clinton campaign. Indiana is especially good. They are ahead.

Kantor is not insulting Indiana. The offensive remark has been faked. The story now is, "Who did this?"

8. "shit" or "the shit"?
How can you be so certain?

It is foolish to think that he's insulting them at a time when the numbers show Clinton ahead in Indiana. It's even more foolish to think such an insult was made in front of a camera, and when you consider that this is part of a long-released documentary...

Do you see the trend here?

40. There some people in 1992 who caught it.........
In The Washington Post's review of the film in 1993, critic Desson Howe referred to "a Mickey Kantor comment about the people of Indiana (when it looks as though Clinton's ahead in Dan Quayle's state)."

And a 1995 story in the Sydney Morning Herald said that "As for the good folk of Indiana, they are still recovering from the 1993 documentary War Room, which revealed the grim truth behind the Clinton election campaign. It showed Mr Kantor bursting in on election night to tell other campaign staffers that incredibly, Mr Clinton was doing well even in Republican Indiana. 'And those people are s---!' he declared breathlessly."

THe one with the subtitles is different enough from the original for this Obama supporter to be very skeptical.

17. I am listening to the original.
I agree with the recent Huffington Post article. Indiana is good news for them.

Even if that was Kantor's actual belief, he wouldn't be caught dead saying it in front of a freaking camera! That film is part of a long-released documentary, and nobody, nobody, NOBODY caught Kantor calling Indiana a bunch of white ni**ers until right now?

Get real.

15. Why in the hell did he feel the need to whisper that?
He was embarrased that he used the word "shit" on camera, so he whispered something he didn't want the cameras to pick up. If he said what you said he said, then why the whisper?

I hear different things when I listen to it. Most of the time it comes across to me as, "fucking white asshole." Either way, he shouldn't have said what he said.

If it's fake, what would be the motive for faking it? There are plenty
of tapes of associates closer to Clinton who could have their words altered if someone was looking to do an intentional hit job. Why would anyone pull a clip from a 1992 movie?

23. You can't establish motive until you track down who did it.
Then motives will be easier to understand. Motive is useful for broadening your perspective on where to look for evidence, but even someone with the strongest motive in the world to do something can still be exonerated by the actual evidence.

We can work a few things out, though.

As a fake, it's outrageous and easily seen through. Therefore, that might have been part of this. Fake an outrageous video and when it's exposed, the Clinton camp has a right to be indignant and the Obama camp is running.

Therefore, to me, it's more likely that a Clinton sympathizer did this than an Obama sympathizer. Scratch that. It's more likely that this is something intended to attack Obama ultimately.

Is that saying that this is from the Clinton camp? Not at all. It's incendiary enough that I can't see the Clintons getting anywhere near approving something like this. So it's more likely that it's not something from either camp. It's a third party, somebody who doesn't care anything about either side.

That means a Republican dirty trick. It doesn't mean it came from McCain. But the most likely story is some malicious arsonist from the right wing. Something like this bounces around and causes fires all over the place.

But like I say, who posted it can be tracked down (and will be tracked down, if Mickey Kantor has anything to do with it). And then you can work out the motive from there.

16. Let's Suppose Kantor Did Say "Worthless White Nigger" For Just A Moment
There has been a more or less considerable furor over Sen. Robert Byrd's (D-WV) usage of the term "white nigger." Everyone seems to think that they know what this means. But do they? Before one can decide if the words are offensive, one must first know what they mean. Mary Mostert, at Banner of Liberty, thinks Byrd meant "poor white trash" in general, and Bill Clinton in particular. However, this has a somewhat dubious fit to the context. I should like to explore an alternative possibility.

http://hnn.us/articles/1220.html

In 1992, some people were portraying Bill, Roger and Virginia Clinton as white trash. Look it up.

But I do wonder if he was referring to Bill Clinton having been called that, and saying that the people in the White House might like to be one now.

27. If you have headphones, put them on...
and LISTEN. "Look at Indiana...it doesn't matter if we win - those people are shit." He is gleeful that they can win whether those "shit" people in Indiana vote for Clinton or not. "How would you like to be ...(unintelligible, to me)...those white niggers." That's what I'm getting after several times through. The "people are shit" passage is clear as day, and not faked, IMO. The second passage is unintelligible in the middle, but the first and last parts seem to be as I've quoted them. It is what it is. At the very least, Kantor thinks Indiana white voters are shit.

34. I'm wondering why it's so important...
what Mickey Kantor said in 1992. Is he a critical part of Hillary's 2008 campaign? "Kantor plays a nominal advisor role in the Hillary ‘08 campaign." Is a "nominal advisor" a real job? What did he really say? Questions, questions. I think the real issues for today are Sidney Blumenthal and the WVWV investigation in NC.
