Teddy Kennedy surged near the end of the primary season as well in 1980 like HRC is doing now. I remember reading a blog where they talked about how Teddy Kennedy was left for dead just like HRC and then he won a series of good and major primary victories enabling him to take it to the convention. The only difference was that there were no superdelegates and President Carter had a very significant delegate lead. Those aren't the factors in play this time. There are superdelegates and the difference between the 2 candidates is razor thin. If HRC wins both Indiana and NC, this is going all the way to the convention and if it does, she has a much better shot to win than Teddy Kennedy did. Both found their groove near the end of the process, however. Somewhat interesting parallel. Jimmy Carter can be compared to Barack Obama as well if one thinks about it.
The Reagan/Ford 1976 primary played out much the same way with Reagan winning the TX primary and surging all the way to the convention and just barely losing after a string of primary victories. Ford just barely hung on.
