areas could pull an upset in North Carolina?"

I don't want to hear ANOTHER WORD about Obama or his black supporters "playing the race card." The media has been playing this card non-stop since Obama got in the race - I am sick and tired of watching and hearing these bigoted blowhards babble on and on and on about "white rural voters" and "white blue collar voters," etc., and then criticizing Obama for having the nerve to be black and dismissing black voters as voting solely based on race.

This is ridiculous.

Guess BHO did not quite have his new pander story memorized! I am sure it went better today.

…… Sitting on a picnic bench in a park on Pagoda Street, Indianapolis, in discussion with a group of 30 supporters, he told a story about the "modest" background of himself and his wife, Michelle.

And 10 minutes later, seemingly having forgotten, he told them it all again.

Obama's wife joins push to court working class

By Caren Bohan 1 hour, 54 minutes ago

INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - If Michelle Obama had her way, her husband Barack would be a teacher, a writer, a singer, a dancer -- anything but a politician with the chance to make history as the first black president of the United States.

She described to an audience in Indianapolis how they struggled, like any other young couple in Middle America, to raise two children and pay off debts.

:sarcasm:

I swear Effie, I don't even know what to say anymore. And I always thought it was just the old and the ignorant who remained racist. This election has just been a spectacle beyond belief.

3. As a North Carolinian, I have news for Tweety.
White rural North Carolinians hate the Clintons. They might vote for Hillary in the primary out of racism, but then they'll just turn around and vote for McCain in the general.

This may be why Clinton's campaign seems to be involved in suppressing the black vote in North Carolina. Where is the Clinton campaign's explanation for this?

9. I think it was Jimmy Carter in 1976.
Reagan won the state in 1980 and 1984. Poppy won in 1988. Poppy won the state (but not the election) in 1992. The state hated Bill Clinton so much they voted against him again in 1996. The chimp apparently carried the state in 2000 and 2004.

Yep. The last time NC voted Democratic for president in GE was 1976.

And he drove a stake through their livlihood with NAFTA and his irrational crusadde against "teen smoking". Stab the tobacco growers in the back to appeal to the suburban soccer mommies who don't want their kids smoking.

18. Those Folks Need To Find New Crops
Tobacco kills... The ironic thing is Americans are getting the message... That's why tobacco merchants are trying to hook the Third World on their poison...

My fiancee's father died from lung cancer... It metastasized to his stomach and colon ...By the time he died he was wearing a diaper...

And why would you be opposed to discourage teen agers from smoking?

GE - which owns much of the mainstream media - benefits from war-mongering, climate change, and every other bad thing that the * administration does around the world. The corporations walk behind the death-bringers and scoop up the profits from the misery and death of everyone else.

The rest of the mainstream media is owned by similar huge corporations that benefit the same way. We do not have a free press.

22. Obama is getting an absurd 90% of the black vote.
Edited on Fri May-02-08 05:00 PM by NJSecularist
Hilary will dominate the white areas.

What's the problem with what he said? He is speaking the truth.

I'm tired of the Obamites playing the race card. Obama has undeniably benefit from a large black electorate and them voting for him at a 90% clip.

Yet when somebody says something about whites in North Carolina, the Obamites go crazy?

24. It's absurd because 90% is double that of 40%.
And it has been a consistent 90%.

Just imagine if 90% of whites were voting for Hillary. Just imagine that. Wouldn't this forum be in an uproar?

28. What does their chance of winning have to do with anything?
Edited on Fri May-02-08 06:23 PM by EffieBlack
Are you saying that the only reason white voters didn't vote for the black candidates is because the black candidates didn't have a chance of winning? If so, that's an interesting circular argument since the reason they didn't have a chance of winning is that they didn't get enough votes - but if 90% of white voters had voted for one of them, one of them WOULD not only have had a chance of winning, they WOULD HAVE won.

Apparently, you believe that white voters who vote 99% for white candidates do so for good reason while black votes who vote 90% for a black candidate are suspect.

'nuff said.

30. I haven't blamed racism for ANYTHING, so your point is silly
I simply responded to your claim that it is "absurd" for 90% of blacks to vote for a black candidate and that if whites voted for a white candidate in such percentages there would be an uproar by pointing out that 99% of whites voted for white candidates, with no uproar at al.

It is YOU who is implying that racism underlies the black vote by insisting that it is "absurd" for black voters to vote overwhelmingly for back candidates while white voters HAD A REASON for voting for white candidates. I made no claim of racism, but simply eviscerated your claim, yet you keep twisting yourself into knots trying to argue with me.

You can't win this argument.
