Change Oregon Can Believe In? Obama thinks the Great Lakes are in Oregon?
This is very revealing about the difference between a substantive candidate and one who is relying on just words.

..not expecting you to provide one.

The link you posted does not have an actual Obama quote.

6. I bet he meant "Crater Lake"
easy enough to do when you are on the road constantly.

A mistake no doubt IMO.

3. After spending a lot of time in Chicago
you know, that Chicago by Lake Michigan, I find it difficult to believe that Obama meant the actual Great Lakes. What he probably meant was lakes that are great.

12. He was talking about legislation that's helped protect the Great Lakes.
He was talking about his committment on environmental issues.

It's right there in the link.

Literacy, people.

It's important for democracy.

8. Seeing as how Barack is from Chicago...
...which happens to be ON a Great Lake, I think it's a bit disingenuous to believe that he really thinks the Great Lakes happen to be on the West Coast.

Of course, I'm sure that Hillary has never made a mistake...

Obama is a constitutional scholar who LIVES on one of the great lakes. are you really that daft that you think he doesn't know where they are?

I hope this primary is over by Tues (and it very well could be, with supers declaring for Obama) because this shit is really, really tiresome, whether from the Obama or Clinton camp.

21. The gist of the article is correct
Hillary had a MUCH deeper grasp of local issues than Obama did- and in fact, some of Obama's actions. e.g. his vote for Bush's energy bill have adversely impacted the state:

"About siting rights, Barack says that he:

supports the right of states like Oregon to veto the siting and construction of onshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities in their states. Obama believes that any LNG terminals must include strong environmental and safety reviews, a process that is critical for the proposed LNG facilities in Oregon. Obama supports legislation championed by Senator Ron Wyden to preserve Oregon's siting authority and will sign it into law as president.

And that's great, too. There's just one thing he forgot to mention. The only reason this is even an issue for Oregon to begin with is because the Bush-Cheney Energy Bill stripped States' of their voice in the siting process. That's the bill that Barack Obama voted for, while Hillary voted against it.

25. Just sayin' it might be a good idea for Obama to do his homework next time
instead of relying on generalities.

That way, he'd be less vulnerable to this sort of criticism.

Oh Nooz! The Obama’s are pandering to the uneducated Bubba’s & BHO gets stuck on REPEAT

Guess BHO did not quite have his new pander story memorized! I am sure it went better today.

…… Sitting on a picnic bench in a park on Pagoda Street, Indianapolis, in discussion with a group of 30 supporters, he told a story about the "modest" background of himself and his wife, Michelle.

And 10 minutes later, seemingly having forgotten, he told them it all again.

Obama's wife joins push to court working class

By Caren Bohan 1 hour, 54 minutes ago

INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - If Michelle Obama had her way, her husband Barack would be a teacher, a writer, a singer, a dancer -- anything but a politician with the chance to make history as the first black president of the United States.

27. here is a link to the actual document
Edited on Fri May-02-08 05:07 PM by onenote
http://rgweb-c.registerguard.com/blogs/images/uploads/obamaOregon.pdf

A couple of things that leap out.

First, its very Oregon-centric and show consderable familiarity with various issues in the context of how they relate to Oregon.

Second, the credibility of the criticism leveled at the document is undermined by its claim that the paper appears not to reflect any awareness of Oregon's 25 percent renewable energy requirement. In fact, it expressly refers to it and goes on to state that Obama will attempt to build on that by making a similar requirement applicable nationally.

Finally, the statement referring to the Great Lakes clearly was intended to be an example of the type of clean water policies Obama would push for, and was not in any way shape or form suggesting that the Great Lakes are in Oregon.

Either the OP made his/her assertions without the benefit of reading the actual document. Or the OP intentionally attempted to mislead.
