2. The doctored version poisoned the well.
Anybody who believed the doctored version when they first heard it ad a built in bias when listening to the original, and thus "heard" the same thing they heard in the doctored version.

You had to take a careful approach and listen very carefully on the original if you first heard the doctored version to dispel the built in bias.

It was weird. I had to actually listen to the original four separate times before I realized I only thought I heard the same thing I heard in the doctored version. Once the realization hit me that I was replaying the doctored version in my mind while listening to the original, I broke the cycle and could objectively determine Kantor was not using the "n" word.

His apology to the camera person was clearly embarassment that he was caught on film saying the people in the white house were "shitting".
