Kantor/Forensic analsysi part 2: Retraction

Earlier I posted a thread claiming to have proof that the video on youTube was doctored, using techniques of spectral analysis to show why. It turns out I must RETRACT this, since I was informed that the sample I was working on was not an untouched version of what was on youTube, but had been subject to some filtering and other enhancement by one of our DUers (in complete good faith, I hasten to add).

The error was mine, for assuming that the audio file I was working with was straight off YouTube and had not been modified in any way. At the urging of the DU member, I went back and performed further analysis on both the controversial video (the one with the subtitles and so on) and another copy which is supposedly an unedited vlip lifted from the movie DVD.

Repeat: I WITHDRAW my allegation that the racial epithet 'worthless white n...' was dubbed in, as the evidence I used to draw this conclusion turned out not to be the original audio uploaded to Youtube. There is NO EVIDENCE that the words were dubbed in by a YouTube user. I was wrong. Please the following link for details:

So does Mickey Kantor say those words or not? I don't know for sure, because I don't have a copy of the DVD to check. However, my original contention, that they were dubbed in later, is INCORRECT.

Kantor did not deny saying "those people are shit" but he said he was referring to Pollsters.

The Director said Kantor was saying that the White House is shitting.

Those are two different spins, my friend.

After finding out that I was not working with the original audio, the only ethical thing to do was alert people to the mismatch. The analysis was good but the sample was contaminated before it got me, so I drew my conclusions weongly.

I followed your other thread and I'm glad to see an update. I hope you can test on a commercial dvd of the documentary at some point. It's terrific DUers have such skills.

I never claimed to have evidence of allegations against Kantor, in fact that was pretty much the opposite of what I said on the subject.

Even assuming the absolute worst about Kantor and that he would say such a thing under some circumstances, it just wouldn't make any sense to say it then and there. He'd have to have Tourette's or something.

Why would he say it at all? Why would he say it on camera (he'd just said "excuse me" to the camera, so it's not like he forgot it was there).

People who hear that slur are like the people who see the word "sex" in the ice cubes in advertisements.

How many do you have? do you have a prefered subspecies or just whatever fun ones you can find?

. . listened to. When you started that other thread I came to the conclusion that there must be a clip I didn't hear. Now, I'm back to not knowing which actually happened. I'll be looking forward to your analysis of the actual dvd. I've been using Audacity for quite some time creating audio narration for short videos I produce to advertise the product I manufacture. But I'm just an amateur compared to what you do. Can you put me on a notify list? Thanks
