My $600 tax rebate arrived yesterday, and I gave it all to Obama
Not that I could afford to, but after thinking about it, I'd rather give it to someone who will actually fix the economy rather than make it worse. Senator Obama will reduce spending to the military-industrial complex, require oil companies to pay their fair share of taxes and stop the price-gouging. Gas tax holidays won't stop the price-gouging.

After thinking about it some more, it seems that these rebates are a sneaky way to give government funds to the oil companies and banking industry, imho. Most of us will use a major chunk of our rebates to fill up the tank and pay off debt (credit card companies).

You may now commence the spitballing.

own has a post here giving Hillary over $1000.

Maybe that supporter should take it back.

You can look at it that way. If Clinton or Obama win, they will certainly do more to help the people in need you talk about.

Either use it on your family, put it in the bank, or donate it to charity. The amount of money the parties individually and the nation as a whole are spending to elect someone is obscene.

Electing Obama will help people in need. McCain and Clinton will continue the status quo.

For a political site, this place is lacking in political logic.

33. No kidding, Sherlock.
I think you mean "political knowledge" as opposed to "political logic" but whatever. My point was that the person criticizing the op is most likely a Clinton supporter and has also made donations.

It is ludicrous that so much money is spent on campaigns, but to imply someone should be doing something more "worthy" on a political site is just sanctimonius bullshit, especially when we know they are giving to their own candidate and only criticizing because the subject is Obama.

8. I will be giving most of mine to a food bank.
There are so many people in need, I would find it unconscionable to give it to a political candidate who has millions of dollars. There are food banks that have had to close their doors because they do not have enough left to give out to the poor and homeless. We all know that George has made a lot of people poor, hungry, homeless, and jobless. Neither Obama nor Clinton need my money.

34. That is awesome - particularly since the rebates are just
going to people who really can use them. You could easily use it for something in your household so it's cool that you're actually thinking about others out there. I wish George Bush and Dick Cheney were even one-tenth as kind as you.

24. Yes ... =)
Thanks for being involved in non-profits! I'm a non-profit exec myself. A strong economy helps non-profits in two ways: More dispensible income for those generous folks, and more secure investments for programming. Funding for our non-profit has taken a nosedive the past few years. Individual budgets are tight, and investments aren't yielding what they used to. We've used attrition to downsize and avoid layoffs, but it still doesn't seem to be enough.

IF i actually get my STIMULUS package,I live in europe, and so I dont think I'll be stimulating the US economy- sorry. I guess we'll stimulate the local pub in our village, where the beer is less than $1, and of course our wages are less than middle class US wages too.

This package was written as a blow job to the american voters. It wont do shit to help your economy, and indeed the only hope is that we'll spend it at the gas pump to fill dark lord cheny's pockets before he leaves office..but i will gladly spend my "tax rebate" on czech beer, since i havent paid US taxes in 4 years :}

This is not an energy policy. This is money laundering: we borrow money from China and ship it to Saudi Arabia and take a little cut for ourselves as it goes through our gas tanks.

I swear that was half the idea of the rebates. That the RNC will be making a pitch for that money. Especially the $600 checks that are going to families making $130,000 a year. It's free money they don't need, but let's help the cause of defeating those tax-increasing liberals.
