Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton : Iraq was “functioning quite well”
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — As 55 people died in Iraq on Saturday, the holiest day on the Shiite Muslim religious calendar, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said that much of Iraq was “functioning quite well” and that the rash of suicide attacks was a sign that the insurgency was failing.

and we live in her own country. I doubt distance has much to do with it, but I like your style.

15. Holy Pantsuit! Where have I heard this before?
Monday, June 20, 2005; Posted: 12:19 p.m. EDT

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The insurgency in Iraq is "in the last throes," Vice President Dick Cheney says, and he predicts that the fighting will end before the Bush administration leaves office.

Now, she's recycling Dick Cheney's talking points. This has been the GOP mantra for years now - -the increasing violence is a sign the insurgency is weakening.

The woman is insane!

16. Everyone does realize this is from 2005, right?
Actually I remember her stance quite well. I remember her saying this and much more supporting w's war. She used the 'stay the course' meme also. I've watched and listened to Hillary for a very long time and this is one example of why I have not supported her from day one.

18. does it matter?
just curious...
cause frankly that wasnt that long ago and right after an election we based on getting out of iraq.

i just think people should know what her stance was just a couple of years ago. there are definitely more from 2006 as well if people want them.

17. riiiight, Hillary.
52 US soldiers died in April. The most since last fall. Seems like it's getting worse, not better. Here's a report from today in Iraq. No mention of suicide bombs - roadside bombs and airstrikes the last couple of days.

"May 3, 2008(CBS/AP) U.S. soldiers killed 14 suspected Shiite militants and an American soldier died in a roadside bomb attack in the latest clashes in Baghdad, the military said Saturday.

More than 100 people were also wounded in clashes Friday and Saturday in Baghdad's embattled Sadr City district, Iraqi health officials said."

20. That was right before Obama voted yes on his first Iraq funding bill
The article is over 3 threes old and was said while she was visiting Iraq. The elections in Iraq had taken place and many wanted to be optimistic about possible progress which would allow us to withdraw.

Neither of these candidates has done anything to get us out of there. I am no longer interested in what they have done or not done previously. I want to know what they plan to do to get us out if they get elected.

21. This is from 2005, BUT, “"The concerted effort to disrupt the elections was an abject failure.
"Not one polling place was shut down or overrun,” Clinton told reporters inside the U.S.-protected Green Zone, a

She's certainly spewing the GOP line for all its worth.
