GOP Gleeful at Obama rocky period
I was asked by a Democratic Underground Moderator to repost this again after being misdirected by a different Democratic Underground Moderator.
________________________________

WASHINGTON - Republicans can hardly contain their glee as they watch Barack Obama battle through a rocky period. And why should they? Nothing else is breaking the GOP's way this year. But, at least now, the Democrats' political phenom is tarnished, and, if he defeats Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination, he will enter the general election campaign not only bruised and battered — but also carrying baggage as he faces Republican John McCain.

"We've had a rough couple of weeks. I won't deny that," Obama said Friday. The Illinois senator has repeatedly had to address — and repudiate — the ranting of his bombastic former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama has continued facing questions about his relationship with indicted Chicago businessman Antoin "Tony" Rezko. The candidate's patriotism has been questioned. So has his readiness.

On the eve of a critical Pennsylvania primary, Obama caught flak for claiming that small-town folks are bitter and thus cling to guns and religion. Then he turned in a lackluster debate performance. He ended up losing that primary to Clinton in part because he didn't attract enough white, working-class voters.

Now he finds himself in the midst of competitive contests in two more states. Losses Tuesday in Indiana and North Carolina would further weaken him. Even if he manages to hold off Clinton in those and the final primary contests, Obama would essentially limp to the nomination.

1. Obama ain't seen nothing yet.
Once the press officially drives the stake through Hillary's heart, all their attention will turn to swiftboating Obama. His supporters are going to shit when they see what is coming -- and especially when they find out they can't stop the assault this time by the usual methods -- claiming racism and attacking Hillary for something she never did.

Pretty soon, the MSM will stop echoing their 'outrage' and will start attacking BO as much as often and from as many directions and the MSM (and Obama supporters) have been attacking her from.

2. Funny
The press seems to have been mighty friendly to her the past month and a half.

They'll do anything to protract the race or make it look close because it makes for better ratings.

McCain is going to have his turn in the shed too if he polls above 5 points of the nominee.

4. That's infotainment!
It's a story, it's as simple as that. Everyone said it'd be over by February 5th at the latest, yet here we are four months later with the fight still going on. She took third in the first contest and she's still standing. He surprised with a strong start and he's grown an incredible groundswell of support. Now that he's sustaining his first serious body blow, people are glued to the show to see how he rallies.

It's a story. Greed and spectator fixation drive the desire to prolong the moment even more.

Yes, the media is slanted to the right, but more than anything else, it's hungry for sport.

5. The MSM's influence is ebbing, internet blogs are gaining momentum
Not everyone believes what they hear on the "news" anymore. And most that do, the ones with less critical thinking skills, tend to be lifelong Republicans anyway, because of the "tax boogeyman".

3. Yeah sure, they say that
as they laugh nervously. They are pissed they got stuck with McCain and they know it. I can't wait to see him highlight John McCrazy as the incompetent that he is. Then we'll see who has the last laugh. :)
