What I am looking for tonight is for Hillary to finish off the night with a small as hit to the popular vote as possible. I figure if we can hold Obama to 50,000-75,000 votes more than us in North Carolina, we can gain most of that back in Indiana. And then we'll continue on to the next primaries that favor Hllary and build Hillary's case for the popular vote.

I am a Clinton supporter- still breathing, just not wasting my breath around here much anymore. Mostly just alerting and filling up my ignore list once again while making the occasional response.

My parents, sister, and her husband live in the same county. After spending 3 days there last week, I have some quick impressions on the mood and general situation. The African-American community is as split as the rest of the country's Democrats between Obama and Hillary, so they won't be the deciding factor. If I were to consider campaign signs a reliable barometer (and I don't), Hillary would carry their county by 2-to-1. The county is solidly Democratic, and has a large African-American and Native American demographic which helps the Democrats in the elections. I predict Hillary will win their county, but very narrowly. It's a largely agricultural and manufacturing-based working class county with a small college base. Industry has hurt in the region, not because of NAFTA or some other bogeyman, but because of local illiteracy and drop-out rates. Industries pack up and move out when they can't maintain an educated workforce. Of course, there is the customary Wal-Martized service sector which all too often fills that void. Still, several industries have thrived, but are on the cusp like everywhere else. As a pattern over recent years, Democrats usually carry the county in the national elections, as they did in 2004.

But elections are (supposed to be) decided on votes, and not signs. So my prediction that Hillary will win narrowly (52-48%) is based on local coverage of the campaign scene, including rallies (Bill made his second visit to the area in 3 weeks while we were there - Obama has yet to make a local appearance), op-ed feedback in the paper, and the buzz my sister relates to me from her workplace and her church.

My parents are Edwards supporters, who are likely to split their votes between Hillary and Obama, and my sister and brother-in-law, while initially Obama supporters, are having second thoughts. I talked my sister into voting for Hillary, and explained on a point-by-point basis, being fair about her flaws as well as her virtues. Bill helped me out though - during his first visit to their town a few weeks ago, my Mom met him. After seeing him speak, both her and my sister were ready to vote for Hillary. I just made sure I closed the deal with my last minute persuasion before boarding the plane back to L.A.

As long as there are votes to be counted and delegates to be won, Hillary should stay in. I watch today's results with much excitement.

I am in Wilmington, southeastern NC by the beach. It is a fairly liberal oasis populated by former Mass., Maryland, NY, NJ people, a large population of movie people, college students, surfer dudes/dudettes, beach bums, a few redneck natives, a few psycho former military people (because of relative closeness to Camp Lejeune) and a sizable African American and Native American population. I drove past two voting places and they looked healthily busy.

I cannot vote as I am not a US citizen, but I support Sen. Clinton. I have absolutely nothing against Sen. Obama and will work on his behalf if/when he is the nominee, but his grasp of the issues is a bit too loose for me, whereas Sen. Clinton possesses the knowledge and command of the issues which make me feel confident about her ability to be an excellent and efficient Commander in Chief.

I lived in Wrightsville Beach as a child (yes, my Dad was stationed at Lejeune!).

...could be a good sign because I felt this way about Texas and Ohio and everything fell into place that night.
