I voted in Durham NC.
I was expecting a huge line. Maybe three or four other people were there. Easiest voting so far, though this is my first primary experience.

Or do you not want to say? Oh, and congrats on your first primary experience, either way.

9. We have reliable voting machines in the Triangle - it's a Democratic stronghold.
Our ballots are easy to read, easy to mark, and easily scanned. We mark circles next to candidates' names on paper ballots. Then we feed our own ballot into a machine that reads the marks. If somebody manages to mark the ballot in a way that can't be read, the machine kicks the ballot into a holding bin, where it is easily read and recorded by hand.

In either case, all the paper ballots are retained and can be reread if needed. There's a permanent paper record of every vote.

There's no reason that this kind of voting machine can't be used nationwide. It's reliable, easy to use, and leaves a paper trail.

16. I really like the machines in our ward
There are broken lines that you connect by the candidates you want, then feed it into the scanner. Takes me about a minute every time.

6. I think that a lot of people in the Triangle voted early.
I voted in Chapel Hill this past Saturday, on the last day of early one-stop voting. There was a long line.

11. When I voted this AM, the optiscan said there had been 121 people
before me - doesn't sound like much, but compare to my last primary vote at the same time of the morning, and I was #19.

Of 12 or 15 voting stations, half were occupied. Last time there were a half-dozen poll workers looking around as if wondering why they even bothered.

Great turnout.

14. Early voting in NC
really takes the pressure off on election day...I think it's about 1/3 of the voters that choose early voting roughly. And with paper ballots (opti-scan) you can move a lot of people through the polling place in a hurry (no touch screens to screw up, or wait in line for).... easy
