Let's face it, Hillary's pandering on the gas tax holiday backfired on her

In the last week Obama turned it around because the issue became a substative one, not a non-issue like Wright and wearing a flag pin. Hillary decided to join John McCain and pander on a gas tax which would offer little relief but long term trouble. It would cost construction workers jobs during the summer and take billions away from fixing/building roads and bridges. People saw thru it and they liked Obama's principled stand. It made her look like just another pandering politician and Obama like a president.

Not to mention that she she has done nothing in the Senate to forward this idea and Memorial Day is just a few weeks away.

that the substance finally overcame the bullshit and people paid attention.
The gas tax holiday is total folly, and the American people recognize that.

Which is a very good sign for the fall. Democrats usually buckle under the easy "big lie" that Republicans throw out because it seems politically difficult to counter. Obama showed that it IS possible - through a combination of soundbyte language and in-depth explanation - to push back on the kinds of claims that normally get traction with voters.
