As a Hillary supporter, I will say I think it's over.
I think she'll drop out tomorrow or in the next few days, unless the party somehow finagles it so she stays in so Obama doesn't have to lose to a non-running candidate in WV and KY. Canceling her morning appearances is an unmistakable message, I believe. Indiana doesn't look secure at all, and she needed to win that decisively to stay competitive.

I was proud to vote for her in PA - I deeply admire Senator Clinton, and the tenaciousness with which she fought this primary season. I believe she is the best choice for the nomination, but if it is not to be, I will willingly vote for Senator Obama in the general election.

And now I'm going to bed. :boring:

61. Yeah, it's over. Clinton has every right to continue on, but Obama is our nominee.
Consequently, it's time for us to set differences aside, realize Obama and Clinton have virtually the same platform, and unite to destroy McCain and whoever his VP is in November!

But I can't let anyone drag our Party through the mud like the Clintons have for the past month.

It's time for unity. Can someone please tell Hillary.

63. This is exactly what we don't need
The time now is to reach out to each other, to recognize that although the campaign has been hard it's been because we believe in candidates very strongly. Much of what has been laid at the Clintons' feet has been blown out of proportion, or even completely fabricated. But tempers have been running high, and what we've ultimately been doing is having a fight about whether Clinton and Obama taste great or are less filling... They have almost identical platforms! We need to focus on that, and on the fight for November. Anything that continues this divisiveness, like implying Hillary's millions of voters aren't really democrats, is the wrong tact.

27. Sad to say I agree.
In order to justify going forward she had to win convincingly in IN and come closer than expected in NC. With this result there's no point in dragging on to WV and KY.

I didn't start out this race as a supporter of Sen. Clinton--in fact, far from it--but I came to admire her brilliance, tenacity and heart and in the end I was proud to support her. I'm glad she'll still be my Senator. :patriot:

and then take a well deserved rest..after the primaries he can pay the faithful another thank-you visit..and we can exhale a little while we prepare for the convention..

hillie can relax a little, eat some crow-pies and decide how the rest of her public future will play out.. She's got many fences to repair after the vindictive campaign and character assassination scheme she just played out..

i think Obama should offer to pay off her debts if she just campaigns for some down ticket races, and does NOT expect to be the vp..

She's not a good fit for him and they both know it

I'm not convinced either, but what can we do but try? No point in being bummed out and not working hard for Obama. For the judges alone, a Dem must win. And people seem to really respond to his message - it's not for me, but I'm glad so many people are motivated - that will help a ton in the GE. And you can't deny he (and Hillary, but more Obama I think) got a lot of new Dem voters on the rolls. They haven't always been the politest in this forum, but we need young people or the party dies.

EDIT: I really AM going to bed! :D

51. Agreed, Jane, and thank you - well put.
We have a general election to win.

And two candidates who appeal to very nearly equal numbers of voters need to reach an agreement, if we're to have any hope of winning the GE.

So let's give them the time and space they need to reach that agreement.

Because anyone who thinks their candidate can win the GE without the support of most of the other's current supporters has not been paying attention.

Prayers and best wishes tonight for both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

And for our country, which needs all the political awareness and enthusiasm they've managed to drum up between them.

I, too, deeply admire her. I've admired her ever since she and Bill first campaigned for his presidential run. The first time I realized I was going to have a First Lady to whom I could personally relate, with whom I actually had a few things in common, that was a SERIOUS eye-opener for me. A real culture shock of the best kind. It was like being struck by lightning! No more dowdy old frumps or face-lifted Hollywood harridans! I've loved and admired her ever since, because she reached a very primal something inside me. She was a new kind of First Lady and I appreciated it, and have regarded her as a role model ever since. And she sure can take a punch. I hope she stays in there as far as campaigning - hard, low, and dirty. She's a great Bad Cop to Obama's Good Cop. 'Cause we need the hard hitters and the fighters willing to use brass knuckles. The other side sure has 'em coming out of the woodwork.

DEEPLY appreciate your struggle and your convictions. I hope the Obama camp will be lucky enough to have that working for them.
