5. Not only did Hillary throw the kitchen sink,
the media caught it and used it in their attempts to waterboard Barack. Damn. They were trying, like, extra hard!

11. Just more hateful talking points from Hillary-haters....no reaching out. "The kitchen sink strategy"
was an Obama press release and a media narrative. The notion that Hillary threw the kitchen sink at Barack is absurd. This campaign was relatively mild. Each candidate threw a few punches and Obama hit just as hard as Hillary, at times attacking her character. It was also a very brilliant negative campaign by Obama by giving her the label of "negative campaigner" even when she wasn't. Presenting a gas tax cut was counted as negative campaigning. The 3 AM phone ad was not only not negative--it wasn't even innovative.

The Obama people are so spiteful and mean-spirited that they can't even be gracious in victory. They have to use their victory to write the history books in their own vindictive and hateful way. And every time they do this they lose another vote--including, possibly, my own.

Steve

12. Hillary took this thing toilet, her natural habitat, very early on.
Don't want to vote for Obama? Don't. It's up to you but don't try to justify what hillary has done. She has joined the ranks of the swiftboaters, the race baiters and the republicans. She is a despicable person who cares only about hillary.

In her speech in Indiana last night, Hillary proved that she is none of those things you just wrote.

17. In her speech?
Who was it that spent the first half of the campaign telling us that words don't mean anything, actions do?

I never in my life had anything personal against her or him, hated some of their policies but they were far from alone in supporting them so it wasn't personal. I have a hard time feeling the same about her today though, she bent or broke every standard we've tried to keep for years now including her own with the politics of personal destruction she used to claim to fight against. It's been her only path to victory for a while now and her morals and standards turned out to be fluid given what she used to claim them to be.

Given time most of us will probably get over much of the anger at her, especially if she learns something here and tries to work with people instead of assuming that her little clique is the party. But personally I can't imagine ever voting for her, not for any office. Fluid morals and standards with a good dose of stubborn thrown in for good measure doesn't recommend them for higher office to me.

19. "we need to stick together" were I come from that's code for "stay with you own kind."
She was still pushing her "white only" voters please, tactic that she is hoping will help her in KY, and WVA.

I am not suggesting that the only people who vote for her are racist, I DO NOT believe that. I am merely pointing out that she made no attempts to cover the fact that she is only interested in "White working Class" Votes. The last time she spoke to a large non-white audience was in Mississippi, when she dropped the Obama can share my ticket, BS.

Apparently, based on the results in BOTH primaries, they are not THAT interested in her.

14. Good point. Obama's campaign consistently used the "negative" smear against Hillary.
Obama was distributing fliers that were 100% negative against Hillary's health care plan.

Hillary's TV ads were mostly about her strengths. Did not mention Obama at all. But she was accused of going negative by Axelrod and his media echo-machine with folks like Keith Olberman and Jack Cafferty "in the tank" every step of the way.

Hillary was asked on 60 minutes the same question about Senator Obama's religious background 3 times in a row. After the 3rd time she said "There is nothing to base that on - as far as I know" and then folks here were jumping on her back and accusing her of saying that Obama is a Muslim.

Hillary has occasionally said things that were sailing close to the wind. It IS relevant that Obama remained loyal for 20 years to a pastor who openly admires Farrakhan - while others (like Oprah Winfrey) decided to leave Trinity because of Wright's sermons.

But I don't think it is fair to accuse Hillary of being a "race-baiter" as many here have done.

15. There is a factual error in your post, but yes, it is time to be gracious.
The "kitchen sink" term was used by Hillary supporters in an NYT article for the first time. This then was picked up by all and sundry and used.

and yes, it is time to quit bashing each other up and focussing on winning back the WH. So please take some time to get over your disappointment and lets work together in beating McConfused.

16. I believe the "kitchen sink" thing originated here:
Edited on Wed May-07-08 05:33 AM by yibbehobba
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/26/us/politics/26clinton.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

After struggling for months to dent Senator Barack Obama’s candidacy, the campaign of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is now unleashing what one Clinton aide called a “kitchen sink” fusillade against Mr. Obama, pursuing five lines of attack since Saturday in hopes of stopping his political momentum.

21. If it were just the candidates...
not the media people twisting words and fueling controversy - we wouldn't have much material to kick around. There was plenty of negativity going around about both camps, but the Smear, 2.0 tactic is to run it through surrogates - self-appointed and professionals - on cable news and the internets. It sucks, but we let it work, so they'll keep doing it.

You can see how that's pretty much shaped opinion around here, right? No matter how savvy a person claims to be, it's hard to be exposed to some of this stuff and not jump into the fray - use "critical thinking" to believe what we want and ignore what we don't.
