>>>> The 24 Hour Hillary Pledge <<<<<
Edited on Wed May-07-08 08:48 AM by nomad1776
I will give her a 24 hour grace period. During that time she can talk to the SDs (and party leaders) and find a way to gracefully bow out. I will not attack her or offer any debate or conflict with her supporters. If after the 24 hour period she is still running and attacking, then all bets or off.

I am asking my fellow Obama supporters to take the same pledge

49. They could, but what would their ROI be?
It wouldn't be worth it. She needs her donors to really step up at this point in order to continue.

I really do hope she continues through WV and KY.

Edited on Wed May-07-08 04:53 PM by Heather MC
Hopefully before the convention. Why is she still pushing the MI and FL issue?? If she is out of the race why is it her concern, (out meaning she can't beat him in pleged delegates, not taht she dropped out)?? she can't win even with MI and FL.

Forgive me, but I understood her argument, when it may have helped her, but now that it will not make any difference, why keep pushing the issue, unless, everything we have been speculating is true and from here on out she just want to run a smear campaign to wreak Obama's chances for the GE in Nov.?

24. I say we give her as much time as she needs
As long as she doesn't go on the attack against Obama, there's no harm in her staying in. She can even help Obama by staying in and providing cover for West Virginia and Kentucky, and perhaps by acting as his henchman temporarily by going after McCain. She will get out when she's ready and our complaining about her not dropping out is going to do nothing but alienate Clinton supporters.

30. I've seen a few theories
..that she might run past Kentucky and WV so that Obama won't loose to a non-contender.
Could be some sort of party loyalty in that - but its pure speculation though.

And not sure the difference will be that big, if she's in or not.

44. The more likely theory
is that she desperately needs to try to raise more money. She's seriously in debt -- 11.4 million to herself and goddess knows how much to small businesses she did business with. You can't even ask people for money if you're not in the race.

In state and local races, incumbents who are going to win in a landslide will often get some flunky to run against them -- just so the incumbent can shake down supporters for money.

and it does not relate to who was mean first, bla bla bla.

Hillary has made it clear that she intends to preessure the Rules Committee to seat Florida and Michigan, unleashing hell upon earth.

What you are asking us to do is the equivlent of asking two gunslingers to drop their weapons when one knows darn well the other has a gun hidden in his boot.

Just doesn't seem smart to me. Yet. When Hillary disarms, I'll be happy to do this.

80. I will give it more than 24 hours....
...as far as I am concerned, her campaign is over and done. There is no way she can catch up and at this point in time, anything she does is pretty irrelevant ~~ assuming she does not personally attack Obama nor does she go into the dirty campaign mode again.

Obama is going to be the nominee. IMO, let the Clinton supporters enjoy the last parts of her campaign and let them get it out of their system so that they can come back and we can all unite. After all, the enemy is John McCain and the Repukes ~~ not Hillary and other Dems. If she was honest about supporting whomever is our nominee, then I am hoping her supporters will follow her lead.

82. I will take the pledge when she or her campaign give even the slightest
indication that they are dropping out.

Until then it's business as usual.

Sorry, McAuliffe was just on saying "On to Puerto Rico"

91. Ill take it even further
As far as im concerned, the primary is over.

Debating or bashing HRC or her supporters will gain absolutely nothing. That is a zero sum game.

I will stop bashing but will engage in polite discussion. I will encourage others to do the same.

100. Obama's uh support uh among um working, uh hard working Americans, White Americans, is um weakening
Question from Kathy Kiely
http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/2008/05/whats-new-4.html
How does Hillary Clinton win the nomination:
"Well Kathy you know there was just an AP article posted uh that found how , uh and how, uh the you know Whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me, and in, in Independents um I was running even with him, and and doing even better with Democratic-leaning Independents. I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on."

"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.

Here's the AP article to which she was likely referring:
