1. sure it did
I have not seen polls either - but I have heard from Hillary supporters that they were disappointed in her position.

2. It sounded good at first then but then got stuck out on a limb on this.
She took a big stand for it, got no support and could not retreat..

13. yeah - I agree it sounded good - but I am not sure
anyone really calculated the true savings - relatively nothing.

And I don't think anyone checked with any economists to see what would really happen if the price dropped - that a slight increase in demand would probably push the price right back up.

Just sounded like a good grass-roots kind of issue - not not thought out.

Too bad - Makes her look like she was grasping for voter issues - rather than holding well thought-out stands on key issues.

3. Obama did a nice job pointing out it was a political ploy and that she will do anything
to get elected. It played right into concerns people already had about Hillary being honest and just another politician.

4. Probably..
I think, to be more specific, Obama's reaction to it helped him. It took some balls, in the face of the whole Rev. Wright thing, and how that could have hurt him, for him to stick to his guns and take a principled stand.

I was glad to see him do it, as a matter of fact. I think it showed a lot of people that he's not just all talk.

I respect anyone who tells the truth when its hard to do. Kind of like his position on the Iraq war.

5. Yes, and I'm proud of my fellow Americans for recognizing her
pandering. They don't all log on to DU or listen to the m$m, but it seems many saw right through her and her motives.

I was proud too.. I was going to be upset with the public, they did well.
Showed MSM they do not control voters and they are not falling for Hillary's bull.

7. Not sure but...
I think it may have hurt Obama just a little. Probably a wash in the big picture?

8. MSNBC polled on Rev. Wright during the exit interviews
I don't know if they did so on the gas tax. I don't recall them talking about it.

9. i think it definitely backfired
this election is about several things. one of which is a real, deep down, desire for change. americans are sick of being talked down to and want a politician who will take on hard issues with real solutions.

regardless of what you think, hillary was seen by many to have been pandering, and her gas tax holiday plan was seen as a gimmick by many. in other words, its just the type of plan that is going to work against you in this election cycle

14. She started to seem desperate in the last week or so and over the top in her
pandering (for example, dropping the "g's" on her verbs) was unnerving as was the whole "shot's" thing.

She should never have come down from her "First Lady" status.

15. I do.
She launched it too soon and gave enough people time to come out and say it was dumb.

Had she launched this lame idea 48 hours prior to the vote, it might have helped.

17. No--the late deciders broke for Hillary. If it was so bad she would
not have received the votes.
