100. I wish *MORE* people would do that.
The true "ELITE" in this country need to start really
understanding, at a gut level, that *WE THE PEOPLE*
have had enough. And feeding us more bullshit isn't
going to carry the day any more.

For years, we've complained here about Bush "living in
a bubble". But so do our candidates, especially the one
who simply refuses to accept that she's lost the race.
So maybe the message needs to be driven home to her at
every campaign stop, at every speech in every hamlet
and town.

96. Yeah---the article says they were OBAMA SUPPORTERS. (IMMATURE****) FANS!!

Mrs. Clinton endured boos when she mentioned her proposal for a gasoline tax holiday, catcalls when she spoke of ending the Iraq war and, most difficult of all, the heckling of her daughter, Chelsea, who introduced her.

“End the dynasty!” a young man holding an Obama poster shouted when Chelsea Clinton stepped to the microphone.

All the while, a smile was fixed on Mrs. Clinton’s perfectly made-up face — not a hair was out of place — and she betrayed only an occasional glimmer of recognition of the exceedingly narrow straits she must now navigate.

At one point in her 19-minute remarks, Mrs. Clinton promised that the United States would have universal health care “if I’m president,” a deviation from her customary “when I’m president.” She said she was proud of her two-point victory in Indiana on Tuesday, but made no mention of her 14-point loss in North Carolina. Nor did she speak the name of her rival, Senator Barack Obama, or even refer to him as “my opponent,” as she ordinarily does.

Her remarks on the steps of 19th-century McMurran Hall on the main street of town were an abridged cut-and-paste job of her standard stump speech. It was not her most fluid effort. While discussing incentives for education and public service, she took a sharp detour into trade policy and vowed to get tough with oil-producing nations before circling back to preschool programs. But the modestly sized audience applauded at the appropriate times and, except for an unusually large and at times vocal contingent of Obama supporters in the crowd, the appearance went off without incident.

Her events aren't pre screened. They are free and open to the public and don't require tickets, unlike Obama events which did require tickets.

BTW, I am sorry for your disappointment.

65. I was at the UCLA rally for Obama, they had screeners/ no tickets
at the door for security purposes but we did not need any tickets.

We lined up 2 hours ahead of the time the doors opened and we got in and had great seats.

By the time it started, every seat was taken and at least 500 people filled the floor.

There is no prescreening at a Hillary event. Show me where that's happened. I've been to one; friends of mine have been to others. The only prescreening that was done was the security check by the Secret Service.

Amid Talk of the End and Boos From the Crowd, Clinton Carries On
By JOHN M. BRODER

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s greatest gift may be her ability to remain upright and smiling as chaos and chagrin surround her.

On what was probably one of the toughest days of her campaign so far, with pundits and analysts of all stripes declaring her presidential candidacy finished, Mrs. Clinton put on her battle face Wednesday and confronted what was at times a hostile crowd at a hastily arranged speech here at Shepherd University.

Shepherdstown, a quaint and hippieish town on the Potomac River in the West Virginia Panhandle, is where Robert E. Lee led his Confederate Army in retreat after the battle of Antietam, the single bloodiest day of the Civil War.

Nor did she speak the name of her rival, Senator Barack Obama, or even refer to him as “my opponent,” as she ordinarily does.

that the rudeness and hatred we see online is happening in the 'real world' and that's pretty scary. Keep your crazy behavior on the internet, we don't want it in real life.

This is exactly why I am having a hard time seeing anything good about your candidate. If this is the 'change' he's bringing out in people, I'm scared for us.

in an effort to show that she remained committed to campaigning in the remaining six contests on the Democratic primary calendar (West Virginia holds its primary on Tuesday).

When the phone rings at 3 a.m. time to stop what you're doing.

70. From a thread that was posted earlier today it was stated she would do very well in WV
I wouldn't have brought it up if she hadn't run those ads here in Texas. She played the FEAR Card here and I for one didn't appreciate it one bit. To imply that Obama wouldn't know what to do when the "RED" phone rings @ 3 a.m. was very Undemocratic to me.

So, when I read that in the article it struck a nerve, I guess and I had to bring it up.

109. wrong analysis of WV... I grew up in Cumberland MD just over the border
This is not true: Areas ..."most people are already living off of SSI or diability. They already have income and medical coverage."

People in WV are dirt poor. A huge proportion of the state does not have health insurance in any form. SSI/disability is not keeping up with inflation. Because the wages are so low in WV, the amount that people can collect in SSI/disability is also very low-- much lower than any other part of the country. Life expectancy is lower in WV than in the rest of the country. You are talking about people living in rural junkyards with 3 nonworking cars in the front yard... Take a drive down Route 220 and you know what I mean.

WV is dependent on having affordable gas. There is no meaningful public transportation in the state. People are getting to the point that they can not fill their tank to look for work.

People will vote their prejudices because they have lost faith in the system to make a difference in their lives. Nothing meaningful has happened for those folks except the pork barrel projects that Byrd has sent in has helped people in that neck of the woods.

The sad thing is that people will vote for McCain because he will manipulate their prejudices. It will be a tragedy in WV if McCain is elected.

Only so many times that you can say it before people catch on. Also, Hillary is making a HORRIBLE strategic move with her MI & FL strategy. It is NOT wise to talk about seating FL and MI delegates when you're campaigning on the stump. The people in WV could care less about MI and FL. They want to know about the economy, foreign policy, health care, jobs, etc. Expect to be heckled when people spend an hour waiting to hear you address their issues and you instead focus on not disenfranchising FL and MI.

But the modestly sized audience applauded at the appropriate times and, except for an unusually large and at times vocal contingent of Obama supporters in the crowd, the appearance went off without incident……….
