It may be unfounded paranoia. I willingly admit upfront that I don't trust Hillary and wouldn't put nothing past her. My gut tells me that Hillary and Bill are conflicted. They want to destroy Obama and crush his chances in November so they can try again in 2012. Let's face it: Without eight years of George W. Bush wrecking this country the Democratic Party would not be in the position it is now. We are looking at the biggest electoral slide toward the Democratic Party in recent history and that is almost entirely owed to the failures of George W. Bush. When Obama says we only have one shot at this: It's because of the current political winds. If Hillary were to somehow magically win the nomination and then the general election, any hope of Obama becoming a President of the United States would dry up, and the converse is also true for Hillary.
My gut tells me that they are conflicted. They want to sabotage him but know it's risky. If he loses in November it could be placed at their feet, and it would destroy the Clinton legacy, and virtually ensure that she has no chance in the future to become President. Ever. She may not even be welcomed back into the Senate, and she would certainly become the Black Sheep of the Democratic Party - finding herself in a similar position as Joe Lieberman.
The easiest way to sabotage Obama is to have him force her out of the race. To make it look like the boys club decided to force the woman back into the kitchen. I cannot say this will happen, but I do think it is a possibility: After her win in West Virginia she attempts to pull a "Come Back Kid" move. Even though the math is totally against her in every way shape and form, she will attempt to force the hand of the Super Delegates and Obama. She wants it to look like they are forcing her out of the race, so that her strongest supporters, the supporters Obama will need in November, will not be inclined to vote for him.
The narrative is already out there. Pundits everywhere talk about how Obama will have trouble winning Clinton's core constituency. Hillary may want to make it a reality. She may campaign for him if he wins, but there may be the occasional comments that Bill makes "off the cuff" that are used to undercut Obama in the general election. It would be played up as "Well, that's Bill Clinton for you."
It may be unfounded paranoia, but in the deepest level of my gut I know the Clinton's care nothing for us, nothing for America, and nothing for the Party: It has been and always will be about their own ambitions, and everyone else can go straight to hell for all they care. Just like the gas tax they will pander and say what needs to be said in order to get ahead, no matter the truth, so long as the end result is favorable to them.
