What's the chance? Bush starts war with Iran and Bill Clinton supports/defends that decision
Edited on Thu May-08-08 12:17 PM by blm
publicly throughout the summer and fall before the general election, even as our Dem nominee and his surrogates are criticizing the decision?

I think the chances are unfortunately high, because this is exactly what Bill did for Bush on his terrorism and Iraq war decisions throughout 2003 and throughout his high profile book tour in the summer of 2004, where he supported and defended Bush repeatedly from the very criticisms being aimed at him by the Dem nominee.

This time - I don't think WE, as a PARTY, will let him get away with it. At least, I hope not.

Reminder of Bill's role in defending the Bushboy PUBLICLY in high profile interviews throughout his summer2004 book tour:

1. Don't get your hearts broken

The Clintons are beyond ruthless and will quickly exploit Obama/Muslim/Hamas rumors following a US attack on Iran and Iran's justifiable response.
This will be a very sad and painful moment for the world. Hillary supporters however will rejoice.

3. This is why I am preparing Dem activists to FIGHT THIS OUT. We were all TOO KIND to Bill
when he was on his book tour defending Bush in 2004. We became distracted and ended up refighting all HIS battles for him instead of focusing on the enormous job we had in 2004.

We CANNOT let them distract us again.

Obama/Muslim/Hamas rumors and will encourage the denigration of this man and his family.

Now the tide is turning -as more and more AMericans get their news from the internet and could care less about what Blitzer says on CNN. We saw that the Wright scandal only bolstered Obama's case in Indiana - he gained points there while the supposed scandal should have helped HRC to victory by a double digit figure.

But if the USA launches an attack on Iran, maybe the Internet will be locked down as well. Hillary has already been trumpeting the annoy-ness of the unwashed masses. She probably would welcome an INTERNET crackdown. (She prefers Superdelegates to decide, even preferring the corrupt and heinous Ed Rendell to the average person.)

Alternatively, it is worse: Obama will be given his 11/22/63 moment and that will be it for him and the country.

2. Hillary's Kyl-Lieberman vote and her comments about obliterating Iran

make her position clear. It is outrageous that an alleged Democrat is participating in this kind of sable-rattling. That kind of hawkish demeanor is not congruous with Democratic party ideals.

On edit: Of course B. Clinton will jump on board the fear/war-mongering brigade as a means to an end. He has already demonstrated he will do and say anything to put his wife on the throne.

Obama has prevailed in this nominating process and Democrats must stand firm in the face of the onslaught de jour of the arm-twisting coming from the Clinton camp, i.e., http://rawstory.com/rawreplay/?p=1003

Kudos to you, blm, for your perseverance in telling the truth in spite of people like me who once defended the Clintons with every breath. I will forever be grateful to you for that.

Cheers.

5. Thanks for saying so - others have made similar conciliatory remarks to me in recent weeks
and I want to be clear in saying that I do understand what it is like to defend the Clintons mightily, and to feel invested in that fight, as I did it myself for a few years too many.

6. Forewarned is forearmed. More Dems have their eyes wide open now about Bush-Clinton alliance
and will not accept another huge betrayal like this.

And it will be a battle.

9. And horrifying that any Democrat will abet this scenario for the Clintons....yet again.
I can't imagine that ALL of the Clinton supporters WANT war with Iran and will ACCEPT it as a necessary war even if Bill says so.

12. Invention? He acted EXACTLY like this for Iraq war, why do you believe he wouldn't
act the same way towards a decision to engage Iran, especially since HRC supported Kyl-Lieberman?
