We did it!
Today it has finally sunk in. It really is over.

I have been saying its over for a month at least now but always in the back of my mind there was a little corner that kept screaming "you never know". Today that corner is gone.

Today my faith and hope in America is restored. I believe we have a lot of problems ahead of us but I think we now have the opportunity to confront them honestly instead of hiding behind gotcha politics.

The reception Obama received on the floor today I think is a good indication of where we can go going forward. Even republicans crossed the room to greet him.

I am giddy with excitement! I have been voting since raygun and this is the first time my horse got to the finals(well technically I would have liked Bidden at first).

Thank you !

Everyone!

Thank you America and thank you DU a cloud has lifted from my heart today.

President Obama.... I like it!

6. I am all for it
I am done bashing hillary. In fact I am done thinking about Hillary.

Today I am just going to enjoy the vast relief I feel right now that our country is about to become the shining beacon it is supposed to be once again.

Good for you!

I don't care for either candidate, but I care for the party. Something needs to end soon... and we need to refocus our efforts against the real enemy... McSame!

11. Agreed
I have been very nasty to wards clinton in the past and her supporters and that stops today. While the fight was still on I wasn't putting down my knives but today I am convinced it is over.

My apologies to anyone I offended along the way.

Gumdrop McCain the knives are all for you now "my friend"

Hillary is an amazing candidate I disagree with a lot of what she represents but there is no denying her raw political power and savvy.

Like some kind of OCD forum police officer, why not take your own advice?

Or work on your flux capacitor?

18. You don't see a fellow Democrat trying to unite all the Democrats?
Why do you find her actions so offensive, might I ask?

I think what she is doing is admirable, someone has to start to mend the divide, why not her, or why not you for that matter?

Remember the prize is the GE and we need everyone to start this process to win the election.. You want that, don't you? I know I am ready to put a Dem in the White House....

28. No, no I don't
Sorry, but I take offense at her feigning magnanimity. She's not trying to 'unite' anything; she's trying to pretend to take the high road by looking down on everyone else.

When she, and other HRC supporters like her, begin telling other HRC supporters how to act, then I'll believe it.

29. You are entitled to your opinion, but I have not seen her do that
I seen a couple of these unity posts from her and she states she is for neither candidate, but the Dem nominee... I am the same way, although I tend to post on both sides good for both candidates, but I also feel the same way... It is time to reach across to each other, this race is over in my book and we know what we need to do, and let's get it down in November...

30. Well, I have made it clear from Day 1
that I will vote for whomever the Dem nominee is.

And I have taken action against McCain, but who are we supposed to be convincing here? How f-ing sad is it that at DEMOCRATIC Underground we are supposed to be convincing members to vote for the DEMOCRATIC candidate? We should be able to take it as a given that people on DEMOCRATIC Underground will not vote for John McCain. But instead, on DEMOCRATIC Underground, we have to continue to pretend that Harry Potter and Galdolf are gonna ride in on flying horses or that Stephen Hawking is going to show that the universe is indeed collapsing and time will begin running backward tomorrow or that Stephen King is gonna write the end of this primary so that the Hand of God comes down and sets of the flipping nuke and Hillary wins the nomination.

And, sorry about that, because I know that *you* get it, Dogday, but clearly other people here don't.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080508/pl_politico/14699

After meeting with a group of Blue Dog Democrats this morning at a Capitol Hill town house, Barack Obama did a victory lap of sorts around the House during a crowded roll call vote.

Instantly, he was mobbed.

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.), a Clinton supporter from Fla, gave Obama a big hug. Yvette Clark (D-N.Y.) got him to autograph today's copy of the NY Daily News. ("It's his Party" was the headline.) Even Republicans were star-struck. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) crossed the aisle to say hello and brought three children -- in town for a school safety patrol trip -- with her. Reps. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) and Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) gave him big hugs on the floor.

Ros-Lehtinen said she was the young students onto the House floor when Obama made his entrance.

She said the children noticed the presidential hopeful first, and screamed "it's Barack Obama!" in unison.

The congresswoman then led the students across the aisle and over to Obama, where they chatted breifly.

"The kids were very excited," said Ros-Lehtinen. "Like rock star excited."

Twice, it looked like Obama was about to leave the chamber, but he got pulled back in by superdelegates -- both committed and uncommitted -- to talk.

24. Not long from now
relax have a margarita we won its party time!

Clinton can no longer derail us, let her go out how she wants at this point. The message is verry clear if she gets overly nasty the supers WILL jump.

Its a beutiful day for America. Let the Hillary slide off your back they were every bity as invested in their candidate as we are in ours. They are gonna be sore for a few weeks its not worth picking at the wounds at this point.

WE Won!

We are about to enter an amazing time in this country. A complete 180 from the doom and gloom of the last 8 years! I guarentee you some of the people you fought with the most here will be some of the best attack dogs Obama has on his side come the GE.

Did you see the wolf blitzer interview with our next president? We are gonna have a great 8 years! Let the negativity go!
